Comedy & New Cast in Noises Off Future???
Date: 3 December 2001
So now that - as per our recent
news story -
My One and Only definitely is moving into the West End's Piccadilly Theatre in February, what's to become of
Noises Off? Well, the word from on high is that it's definitely
not closing, but rather transferring to another Ambassador Theatre group venue. It's most likely that that will be the Comedy Theatre, where
A Day in the Death of Joe Egg, with
Eddie Izzard taking over from
Clive Owen, arrives via the New Ambassadors next week.
Joe Egg's run at the Comedy is strictly limited and must end on 26 January. Which would all tie in very nicely for
Noises Off. As it is, booking continues for the Michael Frayn backstage comedy through April 2002, and casting is underway for new principals including, we're told, a "very exciting" prospect for the female lead, Dotty Otley. The role, now filled by
Isla Blair, has previously been played in this production by
Patricia Hodge, followed by
Lynn Redgrave.
