Westlife Turn Real Life into Stage Show???Date: 8 November 2001Irish boyband Westlife is reported to be working on a stage musical about their rise to fame. The show, which they say may also be turned into a film, will feature the group singing their own songs as well as entertaining special celebrity guests. The project has come about because of desire of the band members - Shane Filan, Bryan McFadden, Kian Egan, Mark Feehily, and Nicky Byrne - to branch out into acting. The group have sold millions of records worldwide with two number one albums and ten number one singles, such as "Swear It Again", "Seasons in the Sun", "Flying without Wings" and "Uptown Girl". Other pop stars who have recently turned their hands to writing musicals include Abba, Queen, the Pet Shop Boys and Boy George. The Irish lads' project, in particular, bears a spooky resemblance the 1999 show about a fictitious boy band, aptly titled Boyband, whose West End run was curtailed after a critical panning.
