Denise Truly Tempted by Chitty Role???Date: 29 October 2001 Denise Van Outen is said to be in the running for the role of Truly Scrumptious in the world premiere musical stage adaptation of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, which opens at the London Palladium on 16 April, following previews from 19 March 2002. Best known as the former presenter of TV's Big Breakfast, Van Outen silenced critics when she gave a knock-out performance earlier this year in the starring role of Roxie Hart in Chicago at the West End's Adelphi Theatre. Other names associated with the part of Truly have included Ruthie Henshall, who's just finished a run in Peggy Sue Got Married, and Janie Dee, who's due to appear in the Chichester transfer of My One and Only instead. Richard O'Brien and Anton Rodgers have already been confirmed for the Chitty cast while Brian Blessed and Nichola McAuliffe are also expected to appear.
