Blair & Rushdie Are Private Whatsonstage.com Fans???Date: 26 October 2001 Last night's performance of Private Lives at the West End's Albery Theatre was a star-studded affair - and not just because of the stellar cast of Alan Rickman, Lindsay Duncan, Emma Fielding and Adam Godley. The stalls were graced by novelist Salman Rushdie who was accompanied by actress Gina Bellman from BBC2's Coupling, while presiding over affairs from the Circle were no less than Tony Blair and wife Cherie (not to mention a few bodyguards). We in the office here are wondering whether the celebs heard about our sell-out, 150-strong Whatsonstage.com outing to the same performance. Certainly, the dignitaries had cause to eye our group jealously - most of us had better seats. In any case, we were all heartened by the sight of the Prime Minister doing his bit to support West End theatre in a difficult time and in the best way possible - with bums on seats.
