Skinner to Bloom in UK Producers???Date: 28 September 2001Actor and comedian Frank Skinner is rumoured to have been approached regarding a role in the UK production of The Producers. The hugely successful Broadway show, which cleaned up at the recent Tony Awards, is expected to arrive in London some time in 2003. Skinner may well be in line for the role of Leo Bloom in Mel Brooks' musical, as the current New York stars have announced that they will not be travelling with the show. The role of Bloom was once played by Gene Wilder in a movie version, and Skinner's last major theatre appearance came in the black comedy Cooking With Elvis. Skinner won the 1991 Edinburgh Festival Perrier comedy award and later teamed up with David Baddiel to present the popular Fantasy Football League satire on TV. He now has his own show, but has also appeared recently on stage alongside Baddiel in an informal version of their TV chat show, Unplanned. Related Content |
