Sweeney Swears Blind by Chicago???Date: 19 September 2001Claire Sweeney is convinced she's going to be the next TV talent to razzle-dazzle 'em in the West End production of Chicago - even if the show's producers aren't. In several recent interviews, the Liverpudlian actress has confirmed that she will be joining the cast of the musical at the Adelphi Theatre but, although not ruling it out, a spokesperson for the show said they knew nothing about that little bit of casting news - and certainly no contract has been signed. Star of TV soap Brookside, Sweeney demonstrated her singing abilities this past March when she took part in Channel 4's Celebrity Big Brother - in which six celebrities were locked in the infamous east London house for a week in order to raise funds for Comic Relief. Fellow TV star Denise Van Outen finished her extended West End run as Chicago's Roxie Hart earlier this month and is now Broadway-bound. Back at London's Adelphi Theatre, Van Outen was replaced this week by Anita Louise Combe, of Saturday Night Fever credentials, whose contract continues until December. Related Content |
