Venus Set to Touch West End???Date: 13 September 2001 The London King's Head's acclaimed production of Kurt Weill's One Touch of Venus could be heading for the West End. The venue confirmed to Whatsonstage.com that a number of producers were in the audience for the show's run, which saw ticketless punters being turned away each night on the door. A number of options are apparently being considered which would give the musical a chance to spread out onto a larger stage. The one general criticism of the current version, amidst high acclaim, was that the venue confined some of the musical's more expansive song and dance routines. One Touch of Venus relates the story of a New York barber who unwittingly brings a statue of Venus to life, and is then pursued by the amorous goddess. Popular numbers in the set include West Wind, Speak Low and Way Out West in Jersey. Past West End transfers from the King's Head include Candida (1987), Noel & Gertie (1993), A Saint She Ain't (1999) and A Busy Day (2000).
