2010: A Space Oddity

2010: A Space Oddity

Date: 25 August 2010

The Zoo
6-30 August, 12.30

For an instant we are cocooned in inky darkness, then the lights lift, the soundtrack to 2001: A Space Odyssey commences and we are off on a hilarious journey to the far reaches of outer space. Chip Houston and Major Tom Jefferson are our two hapless astronauts on a mission to make contact with a monolith that was previously found by Pegasus’s doomed mission to Jupiter.

Like all good Hollywood block busting sci-fi films our intrepid astronauts ‘boldly go’, exploring the universe, battling aliens and risking their own lives to save the free world. But, unlike the films, our lovable heroes are armed with no more than an atmospheric soundtrack, their pyjamas, some fruit and a few kitchen utensils!

A wonderfully funny script and great comic acting will bring tears to your eyes as every cliché in the sci-fi film genre unfolds, from Dark Star to Star Trek, and everything in between. This is a hugely enjoyable show for all ages, irrespective of whether you are a fan of sci-fi films.
