  • Matilda As Les Mis marches into its 25th year in the West End, the [RSC] are hoping for another classic to be born in the shape of Roald Dahl’s children’s novel, Matilda. Loved by generations of readers young and old, the book has been adapted by Dennis Kelly with songs by composer and comedian Tim Minchin, in this hilarious new version from the Royal Shakespeare Company. Opening in Stratford in November ahead of a much touted London transfer - we’ve already been warned, the children are revolting…

Phew! And to match the typically dramatic occasion is a suitably drama filled video trailer for the O2 concert as well as footage from the brand new 25th Anniversary touring production and the latest clips from the cast playing at the Queen’s theatre. N.B. Les Mis has yet to feature in my video selections, and is unlikely to in the future so permit me one fortnight of indulgence – on their behalf, you understand. Think of it as a (rather easy) game of spot the difference. Giant red flags at the ready…
