‘Building bridges’ take two… –Following a critically acclaimed inaugural year, theatre and Academy Award-winning film director Sam Mendes will again direct a transatlantic company of actors for the second season of The Bridge Project, a unique three-year series of co-productions by The Old Vic, BAM and Neal Street devoted to producing large-scale, classical theatre for international audiences. The Bridge Project begins its second international journey in New York, with As You Like It opening at the BAM Harvey Theater in January 2010, followed by The Tempest in February 2010. It will then embark on an international tour visiting Asia and Europe before opening in London at The Old Vic in June 2010.

Jerusalem heads West - After a sell out run at the Royal Court, Jez Butterworth’s triumphant new play Jerusalem takes up a 12 week residency at the Apollo theatre in London’s West End. With Mark Rylance returning to his award winning lead role, Ian Rickson directs an all star cast in what is sure to be another massive hit for the Royal Court. Book those tickets quickly, although we’re fairly sure it’s ‘limited’ run will soon enjoy a very welcome extension…!

Are you a 'Gleek'? - You would have had to be hidden away behind several sound proof doors to avoid the hype surrounding this much anticipated US TV import, just starting on E4 this week. Glee takes a heartfelt albeit satirical look at the infamous ‘showchoir’ culture of American schools and all the fun and games with the associated inter-club politics that go with it. With an exceptional cast of Broadway stalwarts, it looks set to be another hit series, and with all the inventive reworking of classic musical songs, we’re expecting a whole new wave of Gleek followers to jump on the bandwagon.

Keeping it clean to be Dirty? – Still getting audiences hot and bothered at the Aldwych, Dirty Dancing continues to play to packed houses and the screen to stage adaptation looks set to be a firm favourite as we enter the new year. Here, we have a sneaky behind the scenes insight into the casting process and how the creative team whittle down hundreds of hopefuls to the lucky few who will make it into the cast. This video sees the remaining auditionees take to the floor for some challenging partner work….rather them than us!
