Witness for the Prosecution

Agatha Christie‘s Witness For The Prosecution is a well constructed and brilliantly acted court drama that is totally unpredictable (unless you previously read the book or saw the movie obviously).

Leonard Vole, played by Ben Nealon, is suspected of murder after befriending a lovely old lady, who is later murdered. He goes to Mr Mayhew Robert Duncan for legal advice, who in turn goes to Sir Wilfrid Robarts QC Denis Lill for assistance.

Simon Scullion, the designer ,has made a wonderful set full of the dark wood one expects in legal environments and it transforms from Barrister’s Chambers to court room quickly and easily. It is old fashioned, but this is true to life of most modern day courts so cannot be seen as an error.

All in all The Agatha Christie Theatre Company does their namesake proud in this production.
