In the Pipeline

Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh
28 Sept – 3 Oct
Three ordinary Welsh people, whose lives are changed forever by the decison to lay a new pipeline across their community. The three actors Rhodri Lewis, Grahame Foxe and Meg Wyn Owen never really meet on-stage but their characters share the deeply felt though differing consequences, as they are profoundly affected by the so-called improvements.

The well-crafted, poetic monologues by Gary Owen are sincerely delivered by the cast. However, the production did seem to be somewhat under-rehearsed with one actor stumbling over lines and another, reading them.

The Oran Mor lunchtime A Play, A Pie, A Pint series of new writing has produced some terrific plays and produtions over the past couple of years. The new collaboration with Paines Plough promises much but In The Pipeline seems a little insubstantial.
