The Games

Hilarious from beginning to end, The Games is a three-hander comedy set around the Olympic Games in ancient Greece. If next year’s Olympiad in London is anything like this performance, we are in for a treat!

The show opens in the style of a lecture presentation asking the question: “What is relevant about the classics today?” The answer, of course, is the middle finger, used by boxers in the ancient games as a way of throwing in the towel to surrender in a fight.

From this moment on the show takes you on a roller coaster ride from the gods to the athletes (competing naked of course, with some very realistic willies!). The show tells the story of a band of brothers, Darrius (Liam Tobin), Hercules (Jamie Wood) and Hermaphrodite (Lauren Silver) who have each been given a special gift by the gods to help them in their quest to win a laurel at the Olympics.

A really witty script is delivered with high energy performances – albeit with a lot of sweat! This show will appeal to anyone who loves good old fashioned physical comedy and a few appendage jokes! It’s got rubbish rhymes, a naked, short, fat bloke and a woman – what more could you possible want!
