Show Me the World
Show me the World is an exploration of teenage anxieties using popular music as a backdrop. Several narratives are woven together as characters embark on emotional journeys exploring attitudes to sex, drinking, drugs and social media. The characters are embarking on a modern-day pilgrimage, which ends up at Glastonbury 2012.
There’s a young women (Rosie Ross) starting out on her working life, uncomfortable with her relationship with Jason (Krispian Foster) and egged on by her friend, Clash (Alexander Crawford) to “loosen up”. Bill (Chris Waller) is trying to deal with his laddish behaviour and his possessive attitudes to his girlfriend. The most moving story is of Dan (Josef Pitura-Riley), who aided by his conscience (Luis Palmer) attempts to come to terms with his sexuality.
This is a moving, engaging piece of work from young actors who have formed the Bridge Theatre Company. If I had a criticism it would be that one hour and fifteen minutes is just a little too long. However, I was taken along with the stories and at the end I did find myself very emotionally involved and willing Dan on to find love in the end.
