Perffection

In this moving drama from Clay Elephant Theatre, Leanne Govier and Christopher Bird play a young couple whose love is affected by a big and difficult secret.

The story focuses on issues of weight and sees Govier’s character battling with anorexia and bulimia and another (played by Charlotte Josephine) who, like so many young women, is deeply uncomfortable with her body.

Through a number of monologues we delve further into the lives of these characters, getting under their skin and seeing what it is like to battle with an eating disorder.

It’s a strong three-hander about a difficult and important subject that is very sensitively performed by the young company – Govier’s performance is especially good and she is definitely one watch.

A thought-provoking and deeply romantic play very much for our times.
