Like funerals, weddings are a great source of material for a storyteller like the very likeable Adrian Howells. We all have our own tales to tell about the goings on - the fashion mistakes, the coupling (not just the bride and groom), the drunken letchy uncles, embarrassing speeches, even more embarrassing dancing and the familiar familial arguments.

Howells has been to umpteen weddings and civil partnerships and been best man at a handful. He has many tales to tell and does so in an amusing and wry manner. Against the wedding backdrop, we get to know more about Howells and his personal battles.

There is cake, fizz, balloons, dancing (he's askin'), cheesy music and entertaining home movies of Howells in dodgy outfits.

Like some wedding speeches I've heard, the evening is perhaps a wee bit self-indulgent and a wee bit long, but Howells is an engaging performer and creates pictures that both resonate and amuse.
