Generation 9/11: So Far / So Close

Chris Wolfe brings his one man solo piece of verbatim theatre to the Fringe and it’s an enlightening way to spend a gentle hour in Edinburgh. Wolfe effortlessly plays a number of characters with charm and without a sign of overacting or dodgy accents.

While not breaking any new ground on the 9/11 attacks it is an interesting insight into how the rest of America felt when the towers fell. It’s a well tread path now and Wolfe manages to avoid cliché, even mentioning conspiracy theories and disappointment in Obama. He also leaves it as an open question, raising the idea that 9/11 didn’t define a generation, it just gave it the chance to start with a blank page.

At times very funny, at times hauntingly sad if you haven’t had the opportunity to speak to a real American post 9/11 then this show is one you should make time to see.
