Elegy

Elegy is a fascinating piece of theatre performed by Jamie Bradley. It’s a moving and shocking analysis of the homophobic murders that take place in Iraq regularly. The style floats beautifully between monologue, storytelling, performance art, expressionism and urgent political drama.

The venue is perfect for this sort of piece, although the distance from Edinburgh centre means that Bradley is often playing to a very small audience. This is a tragedy, because Elegy carries a wonderful subtle message without preaching, and is so different and fresh that it’s truly something that everyone should experience.

This piece is touching and often beautiful in it’s writing. This isn’t dull documentary theatre; it’s original, innovative and exciting.
