Body Of Water
Body of Water is a murder mystery told through a set of interlinked narratives. Set in an old house at a rave organised by an anti-capitalist campaign group, the narrative builds around the death of a young woman. A fragment of a boat on stage is used effectively to draw strands of the story together.
A menacing party atmosphere is created through the beat of the music and strobe lighting, but the loud music is over-used and sometimes detracts from the storytelling rather than adding to it.
Despite this the show has some real strengths, including very good performances in the portrayal of two police officers. The narrative is well constructed and time shifts work well in moving the narrative forward.
Overall Made From Scratch has produced an interesting and thought-provoking attempt to explore issues around current youth culture.
