Winners of the Total Theatre Awards announced
The winners of this year's Total Theatre Awards have been announced. Seven awards are presented to artists across five categories after 528 shows at the Edinburgh Fringe were assessed.
This year, two shows share the Emerging Company/Artist award. (I Could Go on Singing) Over the Rainbow, from FK Alexander and One Hundred Homes from Yinka Kuitenbrouwer have been jointly awarded.
Two shows also win in the Physical/Visual Theatre category: Bildraum at Summerhall and Nic Green's Cock and Bull are each recognised.
Elsewhere, Hot Brown Honey won for Innovation, Experimentation and Playing with Form, Happy Hour won for Dance and the Circus award went to Ockham's Razor: Tipping Point.
Forest Fringe, the free alternative festival which now takes place in the Out of the Blue Drill Hall, was given the Significant Contribution Award.
Co-directors of the awards Jo Crowley and Becki Haines said: "We are delighted that the awarded work reflects an overall changing theatrical landscape in which independent artists that create bold, risk-taking and visionary work are now an accepted part of our mainstream theatre culture."
The judging panel this year included Adrian Berry (artistic director of Jacksons Lane), Donald Hutera (critic), Dorothy Max Prior (Total Theatre Magazine editor) and Matt Trueman (WhatsOnStage critic).
