Dunfermline Alhambra in Panto First

The rebirth of the historic Alhambra Theatre, Dunfermline continues with the staging of its first professional pantomime. The 1200 seat venue has been returned to live entertainment use by local businessman, Bill Fletcher, who operates the theatre with the help of many local volunteers. The Alhambra has seen visits from The National Theare of Scotland and Bill Kenwright‘s Blood Brothers.

Cinderella is directed by Rita Henderson and is written by River City writer, Vivien Adam. It stars Dunfermline Athletic legend Jim Leishman and Richard Addison as The Ugly Sisters, Kim Shepherd as Cinderella and Shona White (recently seen as Florence in the national tour of Chess) as the Fairy Godmother.

The Alhambra is using the original Howard and Wyndham backdrops made in the 1920’s. Cinderella runs at the theatre from 20th to 22nd December with two extra performances added on 28th December. The theatre is hoping that the Alhambra panto will become an annual event.
