Edinburgh Moment: After Hours Confession
Alison Thea-Skot, 2010 Funny Women finalist, gives life to a whole collection of characters in her Fringe show The Human Tuning Fork. Bringing five women and one fugitive to the stage, Thea-Skot confesses that things get a little out of hand occasionally.
My show is a surreal, tinnitus-ridden, fast paced character comedy and I’ll confess it now, sometimes I can’t control my vocal chords. When dressed as my character Tiff Mason, a chiffon-wearing, opera singing vocal coach with a voice to break all records (and an attitude to match) I once sang at a man until he was sat in a seat in the audience. I herded him like a sheepdog. A musically aggressive, but welcoming sheepdog.
I have a habit of losing things whilst on stage; shoes, props…but especially contact lenses. When it’s lights up my eyeballs have a mind of their own. Nothing like telling your audience you are half blind after ejecting a contact lense on to the front row. Chris Bennion (co-writer) and I came up with a delicious prop which has been shipped all the way from China, it’s purposefully so big I can’t miss it, even when visually impaired and it’s worth coming to the show just for that.
