Afro Celt Sound System formed more than 20 years ago when Simon Emmerson brought a group of musicians from the UK and Africa to Peter Gabriel's Real World Studios. The Icicle Works are an English alternative rock band. Named after the 1960 short story "The Day the Icicle Works Closed" by science fiction author Frederik Pohl, The Icicle Works joined Liverpool's early 1980s ?neo-psychedelia' wave, which also propelled Echo & the Bunnymen and The Teardrop Explodes to stardom. They are best-known in their home country for their only top 20 UK hit "Love Is a Wonderful Colour" (1983). In the US and Canada, they also had only one top 40 hit, the 1984 single "Whisper to a Scream (Birds Fly)".
Led by singer/songwriter Ian McNabb, the band released five albums from 1984 to 1990 before breaking up in 1991. McNabb later convened a revised line-up of the band in 2006 to play live shows, with a much anticipated new album out in the Spring.

John Mayall was, as a child, influenced by such greats as Leadbelly, Albert Ammons, Pinetop Smith, and Eddie Lang. From the age of 13 he taught himself to play and develop his own style with the aid of a neighbour's piano, borrowed guitars, and secondhand harmonicas. John met his soulmate in Eric Clapton, who had quit the Yardbirds in favour of playing the blues. This historic union culminated in the first hit album for John’s band, the Bluesbreakers, and resulted in worldwide legendary status. A succession of great musicians defined their artistic roots under John's leadership, and he became well known for discovering new talent. As sidemen left to form their own groups, others took their places. Peter Green, John McVie and Mick Fleetwood became Fleetwood Mac. Andy Fraser formed Free, and Mick Taylor joined the Rolling Stones. As Eric Clapton has stated, "John Mayall has actually run an incredibly great school for musicians."

Story Slam is where you can hear peoples amazing true stories told live on stage. All stories are told by volunteers from the audience. Put you name in the hat for a chance to tell your story, or just enjoy everyone else's! The Story Slam is held on the third Sunday every month and starts at 2pm. Doors open at 1.30pm.
