An Audience In The Company of Boycie & Marlene (Newcastle)

Journal Tyne Theatre
Newcastle

Boycie and Marlene is basically John Challis and Sue Holderness telling us their life story from birth to the present day, with the help of video clips. Much of the two hour show is spent, as you would expect , discussing their best known characters Boycie and Marlene from Only Fools and Horses and the spin off Green Green Grass.

The actors easily move in and out of being Boycie and Marlene to “themselves” talking directly to the audience with a witty and endearing script. At the interval the audience have the opportunity to write down questions at the merchandise stall (manned by the wife of John Challis), a selection of which are answered at the end of the show.

However, with Only Fools and Horses being almost thirty years old, I am not sure how long they can keep this show going. As while the audience were no doubt fans, they were very sparse in number.
