Live Theatre Summer Mix-Up

Families looking for something different to do this summer need look no further than Live Theatre, on Newcastle’s quayside, where they are invited to enjoy a weekend of theatrical events as part of Summer Mix-Up, Live Theatre’s annual education and participation festival.

From Thursday 6 to Sunday 9 August audiences will be able to witness a host of unique live performances including Here Come the Girls, a revealing exploration of what it’s like to be a young woman in the 21st century; Young Cuts, an opportunity to listen to rehearsed readings of work written by Live’s young writers’ group; 24/7 the chance to see the results of an adrenaline fuelled challenge where 7 writers have 24 hours to devise, rehearse and perform 7 plays, and Mega Mix a night of exciting theatre exploring performance poetry, physical theatre and dance.

The annual festival, which is in its eleventh year, is a chance for Live Theatre to celebrate the fantastic achievements of the young people who meet at the theatre or one of its satellite venues regularly throughout the year. As Paul James, Associate Director of Live’s Education & Participation team, explains “This year’s festival promises to be as exciting as ever with an eclectic programme showcasing the immense creativity of young people in the region. Over 150 members of Live’s youth theatre will be taking part with a wide range of talent on display making this is a must see event!”
