Take a trip down Avenue Q in Newcastle

The Tony Award-winning musical comedy Avenue Q is embarking on its first UK tour and will take in Newcastle Theatre Royal later this month; get ready for lots of bad behaviour, political incorrectness, mischief and…puppets from Tuesday 22 May to Saturday 26 May.

Hilarious and entertaining with songs performed by a cast of hugely talented performers and puppets, Avenue Q is a musical like no other.

The action takes place on a fictional street in New York, which is home to some very lively and off-the-wall characters. Princeton, a bright-eyed college graduate, has just moved to this neighbourhood, desperately trying to follow his dreams and discover his ever-elusive purpose in life. A tiny bank balance, the distraction of a busty blonde and a variety of weird and wonderful friends and neighbours lead him on a hilarious story of self-discovery.

The combination of humans and puppets works ingeniously as together this comedic band of hapless characters tackle subjects life’s burning issues: love, work, relationships, and, above all, just how are you supposed to pay the bills with a BA in English?

The show has enjoyed enormous success, both on Broadway and in London, revealing itself to be the perfect, contemporary musical.

AVENUE Q appears at Newcastle Theatre Royal Tuesday 22 May to Saturday 26 May 2012. Tickets are £13 – £34.50 with concessions available and can be purchased from the Theatre Royal Box Office on 08448 11 21 21 or select your own seat and book online
