Truck Asks to Borrow Tigers Memorabilia

Gareth Tudor Price has today asked Hull City fans to donate their club memorabilia to Hull Truck ahead of this season’s revival of Confessions of a City Supporter by Alan Plater. Truck’s artistic director has appealed to followers of The Tigers to lend items such as club shirts from past seasons, scarves, flags, caps and rosettes to the company before the updated version of the play, which recounts the club’s route to its first ever season in the top flight of English football, opens on 21 May.

While the chief purpose of Truck borrowing the memorabilia will be the creation of an exhibition to accompany the show, Tudor Price said that some pieces might be harnessed in the production itself. “The Tigers have enjoyed fantastic support during their first season in the Premier League and we would like that support to continue by helping us with this production,” he stated. “The items will be used in a colourful exhibition to be staged in our fantastic new home on Ferensway, and some of it may even make it into the play itself!” Truck has given an assurance that all pieces will be returned after the show’s run ends on 13 June.

The play, which, Tudor Price remarks, “appeals not only to football fans but, thanks to its humour, also to anyone who knows one”, was commissioned from lifelong City supporter Plater in 2004 to celebrate the club’s centenary. This year’s revival follows The Tigers into their more illustrious recent history, and stars original cast members Roy North, Martin Barrass and Una McNulty.
