Are you a Loser?: Open auditions for new British musical

Internationally renowned theatre director and writer Steven Dexter and the creative team behind Loserville are opening the doors of their auditioning rooms in the hunt for young, fresh and undiscovered actors, singers and dancers with a playing age of 17-19 for their principal roles on Saturday 28 January at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds and on Monday 6 February in London (pre-booking essential).

With the tagline: “If you can’t predict the future…invent it!” Loserville will take us on a whirlwind reminiscence tour of teenage yearning, angst, unrequited love, and geekiness. Set in 1971 and written by Elliot Davis and former pop-rocker James Bourne of bands Busted and Son of Dork, the musical tells the story of computer nerd Michael Dork and his social-misfit friends Marvin, Lucas and Francis and their ambition to introduce society to computers whilst typewriters are all the rage. Holly; a girl with brains and beauty turns up at School and seems interested in Michael until rich boy Eddie turns his back on his girlfriend Leia and sets about unveiling Holly’s dark secret and ruining the dreams of Michael and his geeky friends.

This is a fantastic opportunity for all young, fledgling performers in the Yorkshire area to work as part of a professional cast at the top of their game.

Performers wishing to audition must be available from 14th May-19th July 2012 for rehearsals and performances, and they must be at least 16 on the audition day itself. All audition spots must be booked in advance.
