Eugene O'Neill's American Drama Long Day's Journey Into Night will be the second production in the Bolton Octagon's ten show season of plays.

Directed by David Thacker, the performance is described as a 'journey into light - into love', as the Tyrone family face their demons over the course of a single day.

The role of Edmund Tyrone, whose character is based on Neill, is taken on by Mawgan Gyles, while Brian Protheroe plays Edmund's father, James Tyrone.

Margot Leicester will play Mary Tyrone, Kieran Hill takes on the role of Jamie Tyrone, and Jessica Baglow will play the Tyrone family's maid, Cathleen.

Thacker said: "The five actors play very different roles in this production, and their range, skill and sensitivity is very impressive to me.

"I think that Long Day's Journey Into Night will resonate with our audiences - it is a very gripping play, incredibly thought provoking and widely regarded as one of the greatest American plays ever written."

Long Day's Journey Into Night will be staged at the Bolton Octagon between 10 October and 2 November.
