Wish i was. Unfortunately can't make any of her Shaw performances though she did mention in a radio interview that she wants to take it on tour as it has sold so well so far.

Fun fun show. Not thrilled with all of her song-choices, but it was an excellent performance.

People that know me will know that I am not exactly a fan of Kerry Ellis. I always felt that she is a great singer but extremely lacking in the acting department. So for the first time ever I completely enjoyed a performance by her.
I thought she sounded brilliant and am really glad that I went last night. I loved the Annie Lennox medley and loved all of the second 'act' of the show. The only thing I wasn't really overly impressed by, were her choices in the Musical Medley. I loved Lost in Translation, but could have done without the ALW songs. She sounded great singing them but I would have expected something a bit more original than Don't cry for me Argentina and Memory, but that's just me. Overall I had a great time though.
And I have to say, I will never diss her 15 year old fangirls again (or at least not for a while :-) ) We had the most obnoxious idiots sitting behind us that were constantly shouting "You're Wicked" and "We love you Kerry" and they were grown men in at least their 40s.

Oh God, they bugged me too. It as vaguely amusing the first time but argh, shut up! In general though, the audience were brilliant. Kerry was clearly so touched, it made me happy.

There are a few reviews floating about, I love that the critics seem to love her too. I really can't wait to see what she does next.

Can anyone give me a brief run down of what she sang?

Ugh, they drove me nuts. I was surprised FOH didn't tell them to shut up, especially when they stood up and were just ... hooting.
Great show, though. She really seemed happy up there.

Kerry was sublime and I was very proud of being a Kerry Ellis fan.
The most important thing for me with this show was this was Kerry Ellis, not Brian May's Kerry Ellis or Wicked Kerry Ellis but Kerry doing what she does best with no wall to hide behind. Yes, I know it was scripted and yes I know she was nervous but as far as I'm concerned, she did everything right. Her song choices were spot on, her outfit worked great (even though those shorts were VERY short and that jacket very sparkly, lol) good job she has killer legs!! And the strength and energy she brought to the stage worked great, not to mention her voice was just outstanding... Her entrance was a little cheesy but it worked, she made it work and the crowd loved it. The only things I didn't like were the Coldplay bits and the Bond bits, that's me though not Kerry, I just don't like those songs! Not even her beautiful voice can make me....
The highlights for me were twofold, hearing her sing Annie Lennox (I'm a long time fan) and The Feelings Without You were both amazing but for me the best song of the night belong to Craig Adams. I saw Lift back as part of Perfect Pitch and thought it had a hell of a lot of potential but loved the song the French teacher sung, turns out it was Lost in Translation. She sounded exquisite and made it her own (even though I'd heard both Julie Atherton and Jennifer Tierney sing it previously). Musical theatre is great and wonderful and all of that gushing stuff but this song had something else, it was written like a pop song in its meaning and melodies but had an edge to it that transcended musical theatre and for me, made the night. That is one very talented guy she’s got MD-ing for her if he can write like that, not only did she sound great singing it she made me want to go out and buy it.. I’d buy a whole CD of the concert in a heartbeat but that song, it totally won my soul! (and from what I hear I’m not the only one, it seems a lot of people are obsessed with it). Kerry Ellis you did yourself proud!

I can understand being proud of your child - you made her, brought her up, helped her, etc. but in what way can you be proud of someone you are a fan of? She fulfilled your expectations and then some?

You can be proud of people you have seen develop through their career. Many people have been fans before she arrived at Wicked and have seen a change in the way she performs. Also this is her first real set of performances with just her, a band, and a backing singer. There has been so much more placed on her for her to do well. She was also really nervous about doing the Shaw with it being so different from everything else and it being dependent on her knowing where to stand etc rather than being told. Also with all the stupidness that has been going on recently with the Ebay stuff and then the comments she made off stage it is good to see her getting back into her stride again after the way that some supposed fans were treating her. Shame she doesn't have her guest book open anymore as she deserves all the praise she can get. Though I am unable to get down to London to see her perform I have listened to some of her performances on a video sharing site and she deserves all the praise that she can get.

If you read the information about the set then it explains the songs. They are not meant to be classics but more modern songs that are easily recognisable to a broader audience reaching both her teenage fans and her older fans. I quite like the list. There is a variety of songs that she hasn't really sung such songs before.

Still not convinced. Sure you've got Lloyd Webber, Queen (predictable) Don Black and a nice touch with the Bond themes, but there's some proper rubbish there. Chasing Cars and Fix You? Overblown, overplayed, boring and a little bit old hat. An Annie Lennox/Eurythmics medley? What's the point? Where was Clapton? Where was Lennon? Gilbert and Sullivan even? The Kinks? Kate Bush? Oasis? Rolling Stones? David Bowie? Noel bloody Coward?! The setlist for these shows is most definitely NOT the Great British songbook.

I suppose in the end it is all down to personal taste. It would have been nice to see other songs from Oasis but I can imagine there also being a time limit and she wasn't the only ones who chose the songs. She had help from another conductor and such.

I suppose it's what she knows suits her voice too, as I can well imagine she makes those songs sound amazing. As a list of songs on paper, the set is absolute sh*t, but I'm sure she makes them brilliant. She knows what she's doing.

I said I was proud to be a fan. And given everything that gets thrown at you the second you say you're a fan of hers, I think that's justified.
And Kerry also said it was her Great British Songbook, the songs that she likes and the songs that she listens to.

I thought the show was absolutely amazing. It was lovely watching Kerry being Kerry, singing what she wanted to sing, after watching her as Kerry singing Wicked or Kerry singing Queen etc.
It was such a lovely atmosphere as well, everyone got really into it and was enthusiastic (and generally at appropriate points which makes a change!)

I thought the setlist was boring too and certainly unworthy of its name. Some choices were alright but the majority were boring. She said it was like being able to choose songs she likes and thats literally all it is; a bunch of songs shes probably got on a cd somewhere for when shes driving.

I'm going to Fridays performance, can anybody advise what time the performance finishes so I can plan the journey home.
Incidentally, the quote below was from Brian May's website, any clues to the other mystery guests?
"I wonder if there will be any surprise artists on the last 2 shows?!!!"

The show finishes around 10. As for the comments before it is advertised at Kerry's Great British songbook (not everyone elses song book) i.e British songs that she likes to listen to and perform. It would be impossible to include all great songs that are British in to one set. Different people are doing their own personal songbook. I believe Kerry is following Maria Friedman and from the looks of various websites and reviews Kerry's show went down well with the fans and the critics.

Huh. I was thrilled to see her on stage singing songs that clearly meant something to her. (Her own British Songbook -- perhaps not everyone's but that's a different conversation.) But do you really think that was "Kerry as Kerry"? Because I certainly don't. I think that was Kerry as Kerry's Great British Songbook. I wouldn't have said I had seen any more of the deep inner Kerry than I did when she was singing Elphaba. Which is certainly not to say I didn't absolutely love what I heard and saw (...well, that second act outfit was a little .. well, *little*), but you know? I still think that was a script up there. And I don't care - I loved it. (And I don't think I deserve to know the "real" Kerry just because I'm paying to hear her in the Shaw. But hey, that's me ....)

It wasn't actually *that* scripted. She had the main bits that she was going to say, but she deviated around those, especially last night she said a lot of things that she didn't say on Sunday night and that weren't scripted. . Especially when throwing her mic over her head and the same mic not working as she tried to sing Who Wants To Live Forever!

TBh I am going by audios on video sharing sites as I can't make it down to London to see her. I agree that there is still some scripting going on but it is more Kerry we are seeing than her as Elphaba etc. They are songs she enjoys singing so in that way it is her. That's what I think anyway. Phenomenal. Whatever thoughts you have about the song choices (and to be honest, a lot of people seem to find it hard to separate Kerry's singing from the songs) - what hit me the most last night was what an absolutely incredible talent she is... some of the medleys were 7-8minutes long, constantly singing, without much break before the next 8 minute medley... from someone who would be exhausted after a couple of minutes of that, I was completely in awe, and she sounded fantastic.
I really enjoyed the Coldplay medley but someone I know hated it because they hate Coldplay. So you can't really judge the show, or Kerry, based on your opinions about individual songs. Try and see the bigger picture here! Obviously if you hate all the songs you probably wouldn't have enjoyed the show. But for me, it was about Kerry's vocals and not the songs, so...
Anyway that's that... wonder what the next thing will be? Her album will be incredible. I know it. And I fear the queues at Dress Circle when it's released...

TBF, everyone was VERY well behaved. There was the usual odd annoying scream of 'Kerry, you're Wicked!' [though there wasn't any of those at all at the weekend!], but there was no inappropriate screaming or anything. There was no stage door, so everyone waited at the bottom of the stairs, which got crowded and there were a LOT of people, but everyone was well behaved, took a photo with Kerry and moved out of the way. There was nothing like Wicked SD where people used to stand there and block everyone else until she left, and the atmosphere was lovely - well, I thought it was anyway - and I've seen a lot of her crazy fangirls!

On Thursday the crowd after the show was pretty big and the annoying thing was people standing around after they'd seen her or even if they didn't want to see her just to take photos of her signing and posing with people... so the guy behind her eventually told people to leave once they'd seen her. But yeah the audience wasn't bad at all, go to a gig or concert of a more mainstream singer then say it was bad.
