Hey there (long-established) whatsonstager's!

I'm a newbie to this fabulous board which I recently found by mere chance (wish I'd discovered it earlier).

As you might conclude from the topic title this thread - or my question - is dedicated to Laura Michelle Kelly. I am aware that there are already topics dealing with her but I hope it's alright if I open a new one, since the last entries in the other threads are pretty outdated.

Well, to summon it up very briefly: I became a real admirer of her when I stumbled across a "Lothlorién" clip on YouTube. Of course, being a huge musical theatre fan since the age of 12, I've known her before and I also noticed her in "Sweeney Todd" but somehow it wasn't until I heard (and partly saw) her in 'The Lord of the Rings' that I was blown away by her voice, stage presence, acting and personality (can't really explain why though *g*). Now I'm really kind of peeved at myself for not noticing her brilliance earlier for if I had done so, I'd have had the chance to see her a couple of times already. But mean as life can be that didn't happen so right now I'm standing here, wondering what she is currently up to.

So my question to all of you whatsonstager's is:

Does anybody know what Laura Michelle Kelly is currently up to? The last things I heard from her were "Sweeney Todd", "Lord of the Rings" and "Speed the Plow" (being the most recent project she's been in). Besides the latest news on her official website are sadly from may 2006 and the last update on the AllForLaura fan(club)page was october 5th 2008.

Does anyone by any chance have a clue what she's doing at the moment? I really wasn't able to find any current news at all and I'd love to know what she's up to and when I probably might get a chance to see her live (in London) for the 1st time!

I appreciate the tiniest hints!

I'm actually also curious about this and very much coming from the same 'saw her in LOTR and wish I'd known about her before' kind of view.

Well, but as it seems, sadly, nobody seems to know about Laura's current projects and whereabouts. But let's give it some more time, shall we?! I'm just too impatient. O:-) After all I've just posted this question yesterday so no need to panic. *lol*

What I actually think, is that after the loads of work she did the past few years, she's taken some time off (again). I read in an interview or article that she already did that at the beginning of the millenium after she had a tough period of work so I suppose it might be the same case again. But still it would be great to KNOW for certain what she's up to and not only suppose something. *g*

So don't be shy people, even rumours are welcome!

Last time I heard about her was when she performed at the Ian Fleming Tribute Concert at the Palladium on 5th October 2008.

Rumour has it that she is going on tour with Michael Ball in Sept/Oct. Not confirmed but he mentioned it in a podcast that he did in March (I don't think he was supposed to to say but he's fantastically indescreet).
No official notice though.
I reckon she's got a website or fansite at least. Perhaps they would have more info?

Yay the very first potential news! =) Thanks a lot! That sounds fab! I'm anxious to know whether it's true. Well, we might now some time (soon, perhaps!? *hehe*).
As I mentioned in my first post Laura's official webiste as well as her fansite (AllForLaura) are terribly outdated (the official one even more as the fansite). The latest news on her official website are sadly from may 2006 and the last update on the AllForLaura fan(club)page was october 5th 2008. So much for that. XD But thanks for the hint anyway! And I'll certainly keep my eyes peeled about the potential Michael Ball tour. ^^

Michael did say that, but since then he's mentioned to someone at the stage door that Laura isn't available any more. I think it was something to do with a film offer.

She read the role of MOLLY in the workshop production of "GHOST - THE MUSICAL" last week. Was stunning, as usual.

Laura was going to be doing the tour but MB mentioned in a recent interview that she couldn't do it now because of a film commitment.

So there really seems to be a truth in this! Wow, that's SO exciting! Can't wait to learn more about this mysterious film project! Hopefully her role there's going to be bigger than in "Sweeney Todd" (although she was absolutely fabulous there - loved her; but her screening time was WAY too short for my taste ^^). But then again... in Miss Marple Nemesis she did have a bigger part but unfortunately it wasn't on the big screen. *lol*
