Does anyone know if the Musical "Tomorrow Morning" will be transferring to the West End in 2007 and who the cast will be?
Ann Fink, CF&A, Inc.
Because of your interest in the show thought you might be interested to know that Tomorrow Morning has its Chicago premiere under the direction of Tom Mullen this Fall Oct. 31-Dec. 7 at the Victory Gardens Theater Greenhouse, 2257 N. Lincoln Avenue, Chicago. The incredible cast includes The cast includes Jeff Award nominee Charissa Armon (Ragtime at Porchlight/Chicago), Emily Thompson ( Dennis DeYoung's The Hunchback of Notre Dame at Bailiwick Rep/Chicago), Jonathan Rayson (Broadway's Little Shop of Horrors, A Year With Frog and Toad), and Michael Mahler (Chicago's Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story at Drury Lane Oakbrook). This staging will feature some new aspects. For more information visit www.tomorrowmorningthemusical.com.

I expect Chicago's a bit far to go for those interested in a "West End transfer" biggrin.gif

No seriously, I'm glad it's doing well in America but what about the many loyal fans this side of the pond? Isn't it time it arrived back home?

Loved it at the New End, am addicted to the cast recording, and would love to see it make a UK comeback. Are there any plans at all?

I agree! I was so excited when it was rumoured that this show was going to go into the West End in 2007, but I heard that they had trouble finding the right "star". So typical, the cast in Chicago sounds fantastic according to the above and the website, and they are not "stars". I guess the West End is totally star driven, which is a shame if it prevents briliant but small new shows from transferring. I wouldn't be suprised if Tomorrow Morning made it to New York before coming back to London, I think they're concentrating all their efforts there, from what I have read.

These clips are great - I hope the show goes far and will definitely see it as soon as I can.

I think Daniel Boys was linked to this when there was talk of it transferring last year.

I've just read on Laurence Mark Wythe's website that three songs have been cut since the New End production in 2006. Really sad about this as I thought the show was pretty much perfect and I loved all the songs (apart from maybe the Recurring Dream). Anyway, does anyone know what songs?

*prays I Remember and Look What We Made are still there at least*

CFAAnn

Thanks CFAAnn.

Sad to see The Time is Coming, Chapter Seventeen and Suddenly have all been cut, especially The Time Is Coming which has me in stitches every time I listen to it - hillarious! What's the Pool Guy like? Very relieved to see my three favourites are still there though! Thanks for the list.

Thanks too for the info re. a Chicago cast recording. Will this be available in the UK do you know?

Wow! They decided to cut the two best songs in the show (Chapter Seventeen and Suddenly).

Strange decision.

I hope the new songs are just as good, though I doubt they will be...

They are! Why did you doubt it?

Two of the new songs are on www.myspace.com/laurencemarkwythe. There is a new finale which is great, and Chapter Seventeen which I too loved has been replaced by an amazing song called Self Portrait, and when you hear this you'll understand why they took out Chapter Seventeen. I don't know why Suddenly was cut, but these new songs are great. I wish they'd put up The Pool Guy so we can hear it. Helloooo? Anybody out there?!?

I assume this will be on iTunes or at Dress Circle, the London cast is.

I doubted it because Chapter Seventeen is (in my opinion) significantly better than any other song in the show and is one of the best musical theatre songs I've ever heard. And Suddenly has one of the most beautiful melodies.

The new song 'Self Portrait' I don't like at all, the melody is ok but I don't like the lyrics. The song totally lacks the power which 'Chapter Seventeen' has, in both the music and lyrics. Not to mention the woman singing it is not even comparible to Ms McLaughlin.

I'm not being bitchy; Tomorrow Morning is a wonderful peice of theatre and one of my favourite shows. Though I am genuinely very surprised with the decision to cut those songs, especially as the replacement song I've heard isn't even comparible.

I have to completely disagree. My husband and I saw the show here in Chicago a few weeks back, we loved it so much we bought the London cast album. Well, that is now money we cannot get back. The songs are slow, lackluster and boring to listen too. This London gal playing Katherine is awful, her annoying shaky voice sounds like Ethel Merman being strangled.

We are hoping to get the American cast album when it comes out. As so many in major press pointed out the Chicago cast was far superior than the London cast. Ms Charissa Armon is far more lovely to listen too than that screetching London woman.

Sorry "Guest" in London totally disagree!

I find it funny you think you can slag off Ms McLaughlin, by saying she 'screaches' and is being 'strangled'.

You don't have to like her as a performer, but those comments are totally outrageous when you consider how much work she's done in the UK over her career.

Oh, and the fact you said she has a 'shaky' voice makes me value your opinion even less. It's called vibratto and to sing with her level of it is a real skill.

I'd also be interested as to how the 'major press pointed out the Chicago cast was far superior than the London cast' seeing as none of them would have been London reporters or critics going over there, I very much doubt any of them would've seen the London production.

Sorry "Mae S" in Chicago totally disagree!

Thanks! I may not be in theatre, but I am well aware of what a vibrato is...but apparently you don't since it's spelled V I B R A T O not vibratto. Also, we did read many of the reviews before going to the show including one claiming to be from a newspaper in the UK called The Stage. That critic raved about how much better the show was in the states.

You might have better access to that magazine since you are most likely in the UK yourself. Or you could always try and google it. Oh and by the way google is spelled G O O G L E!

Best, M

If you were aware what vibrato was you'd have used that word not a 'shaky voice'.

Yes, I spelt it wrong. There's a difference between spelling something wrong and not knowing what it is, however.
Considering English is my second language, I think my spelling is rather good...

In response to the final comment about google: Someone's clearly a getting a little bit annoyed at himself/herself with the fact they didn't know what vibrato was until they googled it ten minutes ago... wink.gif
