I hope she proves me wrong but I just can't see her having the right voice for this at all!
She is a genuinely lovely person though and very talented - I just think this is the wrong role for her! We shall see...!

This, exactly! Of all the roles out there, Evita's not one I'd put her in.... very surprising!

She was amazing.

Just got bak from seeing Evita at Demontfort Hall, Leicester
Would have to disagree with the above posting
Dont get me wrong I really like Rachel and thought she was brilliant in Hairspray and WWRY
But I just dont think she is Eva Peron
I started off really hoping Id like the show, overall it was good but I thought it was missing something, though I have been spoilt having seen the fantastic 2006 London production
There is no doubt that Rachel is talented but I just didnt think her voice suited the part
From the very start I wasnt sure, thought Buenos Aires was sung a bit too high and too english, her no Che seemed to have any trace of an accent, which I thought made it too British
Some of the songs Rachel sang lovely and I thought she was exceptional in the last 15 minutes but troughout the show there were quite a few notes she couldnt quite hit in the big numbers like Rainbow High and all the parts when she is speaking to the people and on the radio.
Dont Cry for Me was sung nicely but again not the wow factor that Id hoped for
I hope that she grows into the part as she does it for a bit longer, I see shes been mentioned as Elle if Legally Blonde opens and I can see her being great in that, just not as Evita
Seamus was better than Id expected but not that great, His voice is decent enough but I didnt like his portrayal of Che, though this may be more down to direction as rathen than cynical and sinister I found him too comical and a bit cheesey for the role
The chours were fantastic, set was great - one of the best ive seen on a tour, costumes were great and I did come out enjoying the show, I just felt it was missing that sparkle
