So what panto is everyone going to see? Seeing quite a lot of adverts on the tube at the moment for the various different ones...

Cinderella at the Wimbledon could be good with Gareth Gates & Alistair McGowan (and Joanna Page from Fat Pig) - Cinderella is also my favourite panto.

Greenwich is doing Jack in the Beanstalk and someone else is doing a bit of second rate version of Cinderella at the Shaw (??)....

Hackney Empire's is going to be the best though... Bit of a dream for any Musical Theatre fan - you've got Sharon D Clarke, Clive Rowe and Susie McKenna - bloody hell! Hackney's doing Mother Goose which has probably got one of the best panto stories in my opinion...

Whos booked up already and if so what for?

I usually wait until the casts are published and choose which ones to see based on that. I find many pantos rather depressing these days: too often they're just clones, with cookie-cutter scripts and the terribly unconvincing localisations. (Of a stupid person: "Oh, he must be from..." followed by the name of some nearby district the actor has never even heard of.)

And will someone please make it a capital offence to perform the damned bench-and-ghost scene. It's not funny. It has never been funny. It will never be funny. There is nobody in the world who can make it funny. It inspires nothing but dread in the audience as they anticipate its inevitable arrival and despair as they wait for its inevitable conclusion. For the love of all that's holy, just cut it.

Oh god, please yes. I tend to try and take a nap at that point...

Thankfully not too many pantos this year - Aladdin in Skegness and Cinderella in Chelmsford are the only two, and possibly Peter Pan at Manchester Opera House. Other Christmas shows will be 12 Days of Christmas at Tilbury, Thursford Christmas Spectacular and the Thief of Baghdad (which is the original Aladdin story) at the Royal Opera House.

A better year than 2 years ago when I did 3 Aladdins in 36 hours....!

I will go and see a few

My favourite is generally Cinderella but my all time favourite Ugly Sister is doing Dame this year so will obviously go see the lovely Mr Simon Bashford (www.simonbashford.co.uk) play Dame Dolly Dumpling in Lewisham's Snow White alongside the original Starsky & Hutch Huggy Bear Antonio Fargas and Russ Spencer and Nikki Kelly from Hi De Hi.

Must add also extremely great value for money @ £15 per ticket.

If you take these out then you ruin the art that is Panto. Thses things are expected in panto and should remain. Pantos nowadays are becoming to dependant on the "star" some of whom are not from the UK so really don't understand the art of Panto.

Lets go back to the traditional panto's and keep the "he's behind you" and ghost scene in please
