I thought about adding this to the Children in Need thread but it's getting quite long so starting a new thread.
Jodie was featured in the Mail on Sunday's You magazine supplement ~ interesting information (which some may or may not know) is that she will not be performing Wed or Thurs evenings and that she has a six-month contract. Is this in her favour or against? As the industry usually dishes out one-year contracts. Is CM planning on usurping her out after 6 months in favour of his favourite who is listed in a side feature as being offered the part of Nancy understudy?
Back to CiN ~ I too thought the Artful Dodger was wonderful and nice to see some of the other Oliver faces in amongst the boys. Gwion is very sweet, whatever his accent. I also thought Nancy's friend had a nice voice. Good to see Jodie has taken very well to the role. She, imo, is a deserved winner.

She's OK. I just think it's a shame to still be doing this reality telly thing - it's all a bit cringe-worthy. Jodie is OK. Not outstanding in any way, but not offensive. I just think there are so many people in the industry who could do a better job. And it's very telling, I think, that the marketing of the show seems geared to Rowan Atkinson.

I couldn't have put it better myself! Jodie is indeed 'okay'. Very inoffensive and warm hearted but unfortunately I find her slightly cringe-worthy to watch, she over acts and it doesn't come across as genuine, as they say 'you can take the lass out of Blackpool.....'!!! I do kind of hope that Cameron has better ideas after the 6 month contract is over.

Oh I love Jodie. I supported her all the way through IDA along with Sarah Lark and Samantha Barks (although I feel the latter was way too young to be Nancy!). I was very impressed with her on Children in Need and feel that she has that "motherly" vibe down with the kids perfectly. I do kind of agree that I think someone else could do a better job BUT I'm not unhappy that Jodie got the role. I think she'll do a damn good job when given the chance to shine.

I think you are overlooking the number one understudy who has been flown in from Australia, having done the part over there.

It will be interesting to see what happens in six months time.

I really wonder what Cameron thinks? After reading his article in the paper, he still appears to not want Jodie, she has got a lot to prove.

Cameron is really one of those people who like to have absolute total control over the descisions regarding his own shows - generally nothing ever happens without his say-so. I suspect this will prove to be his first and last experience of reality casting!

According to OK magazine (yes, I am ashamed to admit I am partial to a bit of celebrity gossip now and again) Jodie Prenger has been asked to join the lunchtime gossip programme Loose Women for two days per week as of July. I don't know if this is true (it is OK magazine after all) but if it is I think it is the perfect job for her and am sure she will be brilliant. However, I can't see her having a very long career as a West End performer if she is breaking into the world of presenting. What does everyone else think? Is it possible to be a successful leading lady and a tv presenter at the same time? I really hope this doesn't mark the end of her career in MT as I loved her performance as Nancy when I went to see Oliver.

Linda Bellingham has managed it whilst being in 'Calendar Girls' so I'm sure Jodie will. Nancy only has one 'big' number, the rest being less technique-y character songs. This is much more up her street. She can pal up with Jane Macdonald to prove they aren't the same woman. rolleyes.gif

If CM's got any sense, he'll lift Nancy Sullivan out of Les Mis to replace her.

I was always confused why she didn't make it to the live shows. I think she would be brilliant.

I think she would be wasted as Nancy to be honest, i was also confused though when she didn't make it through as she seemed to have everything CM was looking for. He obviously thought that she would make a better Eponine.

Jodie is average in my opninion and i'd rather pay too see someone else perform as nancy. I don't think the reality tv show was cringe worthy at all, it found so much talent just out of the one show. To be honest, i'd rather have seen one of the other girls play nancy than Jodie, ones like Rachel, Sarah or Jessie. And i also don't think Jodie can 'top' oliver, i don't see what she's going to do when oliver finishes. However she does come across as a lovely person and extremley funny!

That's a fantastic idea, Nancy Sullivan would be fantastic, she did originally audition for this part didn't she?
Scarlett O'hara
Did anyone else just hear Jodie perform 'One of Us' at the Abba concert on radio 2? she was fantastic! I have always thought she was a pretty average singer until now.
CaityGlinda
I did! She was brilliant biggrin.gif

She was fantastic!! I was there and her whole performance was outstanding......definitely one of the best......she really put a new twist on 'One of Us' and made it her own.
