hi guys,
My school is doing Friday night is music night live next Friday and I just thought I'd let you all know in case you wanted to listen.
Ruthier henshall is hosting and it's a celebration of musical theatre! It's on BBC radio two at 7 and it's 100% live. It would be great if you could listen as we have no real name grabbers in it other than ruthie but she isn't singing!

Thanks

abalafae
Is it possible to get toickets for this?
smelly1345
Yes it is possible although get themm quick as they are nearly sold out. I know we obtained our tickets through our schools box office but i think public have to get them through the bbc although im not sure.

Have a listen to the recording from BBC iPlayer here.
I thought it was really good! Nice to hear some good old musical theatre tunes!

Hasta
ITS BLOODY AWFUL!!! Get a real college on there if you want to listen to musical theatre. I love the fact that they mention the pop people from the school but alas no musical theatre people and from hearing the students i wonder why? Why not Arts Ed, Mountview or GSA where real singers go!? just an opinion of course. and good luck to the graduating year.

The BRIT School isn't a college its a school - for students who are 14 - 19 years of age many of whom will go onto drama schools like GSA, Mountview etc. Many of those students then go on to successful careers on the stage and I've noticed ex students in the West End, at the RSC, Globe, National, BBC and ITV in the last couple of years. Glad you've got such an informed opinion!

Well Hasta, I'm just listening to this now, and there are some very talented singers I don't know what you were listening too, the fact that these are all 18-19 year old singers and singing with the full BBC Big Band (which is no easy feet believe me!) they are to be congratulated on what sounded like a very fabulous and professional evening!

SORRY!??!? there are so many things wrong with this its unbelievable. i'd write a list but i couldn't put myself through listening to it again. Major things that stuck out for me were.

At the ballet... How many missed harmonies? changed melodies, and the girls timing was really out.

America... Sounded Embarassing, i wasn't at the event but I'm guessing they weren't dancing it, so really there is no excuse to be FLAT!

Another Suitcase.... She cracks right in the middle of the song, no really that hard a song.

Who Will Buy.... They mess Up The Timing in quartet.

DO I REALLY NEED TO CONTINUE because I could...

The Orchestra Do Indeed Sound Great!

Shadowlands also sounds brilliant in chorus singing. EXCEPT girl singing nala's track, it is way too high for her.

Wizard And I... THANK GOD a good voice at last. Still a bit off on the words team and the final I but hey she does such a good job. well done daisy(didnt catch surname)

ONE sounds great. Seems that when singing in a chorus they sound OK.

And one night only....... just gorgeous.I expect to hear more about this girl, the Only ONE singer that we hear as a soloist who doesnt struggle in one way or another. Infact I loved her rendition of this song. Pretty damn good.

And please don't patronise.. i have sung with the royal philharmonic orchestra. I know how hard it is, that is why you Rehearse!!

If I was the head of the BRIT school, college, whatever, and I knew that they were going to be broadcast on Friday night is Music night, I would have made sure that they sounded the best that they could!

but that is just my opinion once again.

Just to let you know some of these students were approached by agents and are also singing for andrew lloyd webber, at his house, his week.

Well done to all invovled, including the teaching staff who work hard and are fully commited to this talented year of students. Good luck for the rest of your year and your shows and see you at colleges sometime next year.

Well just to inform you hasta we were only allowed one rehersal with the bbc concert orchestsra two days before for three hours. And also if we were so awful its funny how we as a year group have had lots of offers from composers to sing their stuff, and producers want to work with us. and to everyone else thanks. we worked really hard and i really enjoyed myself despite having the flu and there being NO WATER in the mermaid theatre which is not good for singers. the only liquid provided was fruit juice. Which just makes you phlegmy.

I went along to this last Friday night and it blew me away. I had been at a performance that week by one of the leading drama schools mentioned here and these guys from Brits matched them both in their enthusiasm and talent. I have not heard the recording so I am basing it on how theatre is meant to be enjoyed - live. In performance the soloists were exceptional, and the industry folk I attended with were suitably impressed.

You make yourself look rather silly pulling apart the performances of these young performers.

Congratulations to all involved.
West End Performer
Well, I am a West End performer and have just listened to this and want to say WELL DONE TO THE BRIT SCHOOL. To think the oldest person here is no more than 18 years old I congratulate them and can only say that the West End is going to be bursting with talent very soon.

The one person, and remember it is only ONE, who has made such stupid, ridiculous comments on young students in the middle of their training BEFORE any of them have gone on to Drama School should be ashamed of themselves. I for one know how scary it was when I was 18 and in my training before going to Drama School and these students have an amazing career ahead of them. To sing with the BBC's Orchestra with very little rehearsal and for some of them, i'm sure, their first experience of singing with such an orchestra, personaly I thought they sounded very professional, for their age and training.

I would like to stress to all those Brit students involved not to listen to the negative comments made by ONE individual, you keep it up guys because I for one will be watching out for you all in the near future and i'm sure working with some of you on the West End stage!

Well Done to all the Students and those involved in coaching etc.

Just to say I am one of the BRIT School students who was lucky enough to take part in Friday Night is Musix Night. I would just like to say to this Hasta that he is very welcome to express his opinion but if I am honest I feel that I will pay more attention to the opinion of Mike Reed who was the musical director for the piece. I would love to hear some of your work Hasta on live radio and then maybe I will get to express my opinion on that. Also it's cool you spend your days insulting young 18 year olds on a theatre website - I'm sure you have many friends!
