Hello all

In case you haven't seen on the main site homepage, we've now opened the nominations phase for the 2009 Whatsonstage.com Theatregoers' Choice Awards, covering the 2008 theatre year up until the end of November. Nominations will continue until 30 November. From these, the awards shortlists will be drawn up and announced at our Launch Party on Friday 5 December, after which voting for the eventual winners will open online and continue until the end of January. The 2009 Winners' Concert will take place at a West End theatre - tba where and tickets put on sale shortly - on Sunday 15 February.

If there are shows and performances you think should be considered for awards, do please take a moment to nominate. (Though note, you can only submit the nomination form once, so make sure you're prepared to complete your form fully before you start.)

You can also find a list of some of this year's eligible openings on the awards microsite at awards.whatsonstage.com

To nominate, click here -

Thanks in advance for your participation.

I know I say this every year, but once again, no award for the people who write music for plays. Do we not value these amazing people?

Is it me, or is there a lack of clues as to which tab to click to find the "list of some of this year's eligible openings"?

I am looking on the 'awards microsite'

(I daren't click the 'NOMINATE NOW!' tab, in case that loses me my 1 chance of nominating.)

I'm sure other people too would also appreciate clearer directions to the list -
(even though last year it omitted at least one of the eventual Award Winning Shows...).

The "Submit your nominations" is the bit where they are actually submitted, click Nominate Now and click on the list of eligible shows, it takes you to

..... this is going to take a while, isn't it? XD

EDIT: NOWAY! You can't make me choose between the Histories! For the love of all things fuzzy, no!

EDIT AGAIN: okay, how're we defining Lead performer against Supporting performer? I'm confusing myself. sad.gif Also, the form doesn't specify if we're meant to be only putting one name in each box or if we can suggest an array...

ooo, this one's gonna run and run

Thanks -
but WhatsOnStage: PLEASE try to get the annual list more complete BEFORE posting it online!

LAST year's list omitted the super LANDOR Production 'I LOVE YOU BECAUSE'!!!

THIS year's list omitted the super LANDOR Production 'ALVARO'S BALCONY'!!!

Despite being omitted from Last Year's List,
the LANDOR Production of 'I LOVE YOU BECAUSE' went on to WIN!!!

Please Please Please ADD 'ALVARO'S BALCONY' to this year's List!

(And NO, I Don't Work for the Landor! I just loved both of those musicals.)

In fact, although last year I noticed other productions at the Landor WERE included in the List,
there doesn't seem to be ANY mention of the Landor in THIS year's List.

Nor The Finborough.

Yet there's a category for 'Best Off West End Production'....

I did my nominations last night and despite having seen more theatre in the past 12 months than in any previous year, I really struggled. And not because I couldn't choose between people, but because there were very few stand out performances for me.

Hello again

We've now added the link to the list of eligible openings to the top of the nominations form itself.

To that list, we're also adding in openings at the Arcola and Finborough. It is a non-exhaustive list - and nonetheless, extremely long - but if you notice anything you think should be included that isn't, do let us know and we'll try to rectify it.

Surely the Histories as a cycle should be down in the 'theatrical event' category?

What happened to the Choreography section? – I guess it’s no longer important!

Since still no mention of opera or dance

Thanks for trying, Terri.

Please add the LANDOR too!

Also, if the List isn't going to be on or linked from the Awards microsite home page,
maybe it'd be better to re-name the link currently called 'NOMINATE NOW!'.

'NOMINATE NOW!' suggests people shouldn't click until they've already decided who to nominate.

Yet without clicking 'NOMINATE NOW!', the List of Openings can't be seen -
and neither can the actual Awards Categories!

'HOW TO NOMINATE' is my first thought for a much better, more inviting title.

Hello

Do you know if in order to vote you have to type the name of the actor or whoever you choose plus play or whatever or just the name of the actor?

Thanks
El Peter
So if we press the wrong button, then we'll fail to get our nominations registered? How could that confusion have been allowed?
Biddy
Urgent: please will WoS clarify the exact date & time at which nominations close.

I recently received an email saying nominations close Nov30 -
whereas on the website it says (or did say, when I printed it) December 1.

The awards year is supposed to include shows Opening up to & including Nov 30.

At least one show - on the list - opens Nov 26.

People theatre-going this weekend may wish to vote for shows & people they see this weekend -
ie to vote after returning home from a weekend in London.
