I went to see Wicked yesterday at the matinee performance and had Sarah as Glinda, which I must admit was dissapointed about as I like Dianne in the role! But she was amazing, her voice as well as acting ability was brilliant.

All I can say is that she deserves a full time lead in a show as it is such a shame that she is only the stand-by and deserves a lot more!!

Sarah Earnshaw is a brilliant Glinda... Her Popular is the best around I think.

I love Dianne to bits, but Sarah is fabulous as well. Glad you liekd her smile.gif

I saw Sarah perform on Thursday (17th), and have to say I thoroughly enjoyed her performance. To me at least, she did seem to have a slow start, but I do definitely hope she gets the full-time role come May. She has been the standby for two years I believe, so either deserves to have the big break or for her to move on to another show and gain a lead role.

I watched 'Wicked' last night in London Victoria last night and it was an excellent show. I thought the connection between Elphaba (Sarah Ellis) and Glinda (Sarah Earnshaw) was electrifying. Excellent performance by all the cast.

Definately not a show to miss with the current cast.
Eh?

Is that Kerry's sister or something?? mellow.gif

I think you probably mean Kerry Ellis as there is no Sarah Ellis in the current cast,

The only Sarah Ellis I know of is Sarah French-Ellis but she's not with wicked...

WOW!!

I saw her today because Dianne was on holiday, and I'm FLOORED! The British director seems to force his Glindas to speak and act with the most annoying accent and extra squeaky intonation, and nobody makes it more annoying than Dianne does. Somehow, in some way that I can't even begin to comprehend, Sarah Earnshaw managed to make it not just not annoying, but endearing and utterly AWESOME!

Her facial expressions were priceless, her vocals were stellar, her acting was amazing. I have to say she is probably my favourite Glinda (including Kristin, JLT, Kendra, Annaleigh etc).

Umm...I hate to break it to you, but that's actually Sarah's real voice!

And yes, she is utterly awesome. Best Glinda around in my opinion :-). Glad you liked her!

Why is that a bad thing? I loved her. What I was referring to were a lot of British-Glinda-isms that Dianne does that Sarah also does as part of the role. Difference being that Dianne is intolerably annoying.

It's not a bad thing :-). That's not what I meant. I just thought you were saying that all the Glindas put on a voice...but Sarah's is her real-life voice...that's all :-).

But yes, as I said, glad you liked her!

I am going to disagree here. I seen Sarah for the second time on Tuesday and while she was still a great joy to watch in the role, this time I found myself missing Dianne. Dianne's recent reinvention (well since June/Alexia) of her Glinda was for the best and now she plays it with next to no squeak. I do think Sarah is an amazing Glinda and I think she was probably having an off day Tuesday but I do prefer Dianne in the role.

I've seen Dianne twice since June and although better I still find her intolerable. I honestly think Dianne is the worst Glinda out of any worldwide.

But that's best left another thread I think biggrin.gif Sarah just made me dislike Dianne more blink.gif

Saw Sarah as Glinda last week and really enjoyed her performance! biggrin.gif

Seen Sarah 3 times, and she is my favourite Glinda.
I've been absolutley obsessed with her for nearly two years now... seems quite scary when you put it into perspective...

Anyway, best Glinda in my opinion, puts her life & soul into every performance, is heartbreaking everytime in Thank Goodness, For Good & the Finale. Her Popular is like no other and she cracks me up in What is this Feeling. She is also one of the nicest actresses you will ever meet.

If you get the opportunity to go see her, do it! biggrin.gif

I've been thinking about it for the last couple of days, and I think I truly believe that Sarah is better than Dianne. I mean, I love Dianne and she's absolutly hilarious, but as lots of people have said, her voice is just so annoying. I can put up with her talking voice, but not her singing. She got a great voice but the Glindaness takes away the greatness I believe. I really did not like her vibrato at all! I don't know what happened to it when Alexia was Elphie, but its back to it's regualr annoyingness as of 19th Feb 2009 when I saw her.

Sarah was just truly amazing. Although I did feel like it took to about Dancing Through Life for her voice to truly warm up as she started of abit...erm...slow. I just thoguht she was absolutly hilarious!

Tbh, when I go in July, I hope I get Earny instead of Dianne! I really want to see her again!

I'm dissapointed she wasn't on all week. I would have gone today for SArah (even though I'm going next week for Liam...) but hey ho, at least she's sticking around in the summer! I wanted to see her and Kerry though. sad.gif

I saw the 7:30 performance of Wicked on Monday 24th of March... and I loved it so much. I have to admit though that to my shame I can't tell if it was Sarah Earnshaw or Diane Pilkington playing Glinda yesterday. Did anyone else see it and can confirm which of the 2 it was?
ollie
Well it should have been Dianne as Sarah is on this Thursday to Saturday but I can not say for certain as I wasn't there!

Also to cat123: do you know what performances Liam is doing next week, is it Thurs-Sat like Ashleigh and Sarah have been doing. Thanks for any information!
cat123
Nope, all week, according to http://www.westendunderstudies.com/dates.html biggrin.gif 30th-4th.

cat123
