Totally brilliant but I am aware SCD is filmed (incl. Sunday's programme) on Saturday night. Does this mean the 4 principals were all off last night? Just curious!

Pre-recorded, probably at 6 or so before the live show...time for the boys to get back to the theatre...

The four principles didnt do the matinee yesterday to be at the BBC and got back to the theatre in time for the evening show.

My parents were at the show on Saturday night. The show started 15 mins late as the cast were late back from SCD.

I'm sure that's why it won a Tony and why there are currently 5 productions worldwide.

Why has a perfectly ligitimate thread / question descended into snide remarks? This happens all too frequently. Disagreements are fine, this is after all a discussion board and theatre experiences can be subjective. But rude remarks are just uncalled for.

I think I'd be a bit peed off if I turned up and none of the 4 principles were playing. Were people told when they booked? I've nothing against understudies but all FOUR?!

I totally agree with you and especially on a Saturday as well! I have nothing against understudies. I would be even more unimpressed if I found out they had it off to do strictly come dancing!

I think that's the point - if the producers had known well in advance that all the principals were going to be off and yet didn't tell people, I'd be rather annoyed. If all four happen to be ill, that's unfortunate but unavoidable; but the producer not even trying to present any of the advertised stars seems a bit off to me. unsure.gif

As far as I know there are not any advertised stars for this production, It is not a star carrying show, we all know who the leads are from having a heavy interest in Musical Theatre. As a producer this is a clever idea, you're coming close to your 1st year of the show finishing, get them on as many TV shows as possible that will attract the 'right' demographic and hopefully you will regenerate enough interest in the show to keep it going for a few more months.

The producers are under no obligation with Jersey Boys to have on stage any performer on any night as they do not out and out bill the show saying staring 'Ryan Malloy' & Glen Carter, if that was the case then maybe there is a small argument but this has been discussed in detail on the site many times.

If by advertising you are talking about images portraying them as the Jersey Boys, then if you were to take that as a form of advertising, Id want to write and complain to virtually every Theatre company in the country who use other people in their adverts and promo material and didnt show up...hey after all i was expecting the broadway cast when i booked for Jersey Boys after all their promo material and advertising leaflets came through my door! rolleyes.gif
JosephM
If that was the case... when I booked my summer holiday why didnt it turn up with that stunning brunette girl that I saw on the photos!!! Hehe
Marius Pontmercy
Laughingmonsta: I'm sure that's absolutely correct in this case, my point was meant to be more general - having not seen Jersey Boys or paid much attention to the advertising - but I didn't phrase it very well. Sorry! All arguments aside I thought the cast were great on Strictly, so I'll almost certainly see the show soon. Whoever's in it. smile.gif

I went to see the Jersey boys on saturday night and Ryan, Stephen, Philip and Glenn all played in the evening show
it was a little late starting due to them being stuck in traffic after recording the strictly show
