What a yawn. Godot must be one of the most over-rated plays ever written. Should be called 'The Emperor's Clothes'.

Its actually one of my fav plays, not a yawn at all, and a stunning cast but I'm sorry even this regular theatre goer (unless some rich person wants to but me a ticket hint, hint) cannot afford the £52 a ticket they are charging.

There is something cynical about this. They're obviously all expecting to make loadsamoney out of it.

There must be cheaper tix, monster. The TRH is not so huge, seats at the back of the dress are ok, the rake is very steep. But I agree, it is the same old story, get two megas and go for it.
I love the play. Saw brilliant prod at Old Vic yonks ago with Ben Kinsgley was it ? thingie Howard.
I'm sure these two giants ...blah blah you can hear the reviewers hauling out the cliches as we breathe ...will do it justice.

Just like No Man's Land (already discounted on TKTS). Still, they deserve to make a bit of money after J.Kent's underwhelming season I suppose.
I have never seen the play but will not go, the Haymarket is a rotten theatre and anyway seems to me a poor choice for what is essentially a two-hander on an empty stage ?

Hmmm... buy balcony ticket for near the end of the run, hope it's not the big seller they're hoping for, and maybe you'll get an upgrade? I always buy the cheapest tickets, and I get upgraded half the time. Which is nice.

the problem is this will sell alot of the shows at TRH already are showing sold out in the stalls

Not just the cost of the tix [ they add a charge on if you book by phone so top tix cost over 50] concerns me but...I do feel that I know the performance they will turn it . I can see it in my head, the pathos , the gestures , the facial expressions even. I am not sure that either IMK or PS will bring to the play new insights for me. What do you guys think? Nice as it might be to see two of our best [ arguably, but PS can cut it and IMK has just 'given us his Lear' ] I might prefer two not so well known actors or two younger actors..so I haven't booked yet while I think about it. It doesn't start til end of April but I expect it will be quite well booked already so I am taking a chance here.

"No Man's Land" - a similar but even more superficially attractive production - is currently available on TKTS with the full 50% discount (ater moving quickly to 25% discount soon after opening). So, I advise you to wait.

No-one's actually asked this yet, but who's playing which one? Looks to me from the poster as if McK is playing Estragon and Stewy Vladimir. But maybe they'll swap every other performance, or something. Does anyone know?

How fascinating that you can tell this from the poster - how?

"During their initial discussions with director Sean Mathias, McKellen and Stewart toyed with the idea of sharing the two lead roles, swapping characters on alternate nights. But it has now been settled that McKellen will play Estragon, the earthier half of existentialism's odd couple, while Stewart will play the dreamier of Beckett's famous tramps, Vladimir."
