Kafka’s Monkey sounds interesting if nothing else

King Lear. Oh yeah baby!

Why are we getting “an adventurous multimedia production" from good old Katie Mitchell? I would love to see Purcell’s Dido in such a small space and especially with Susan Bickley but KM with her same old production team churning out the same crap time and time again ….
Jan Brock
Somewhat churlish to complain about KM giving it her same old production style when you (and I) are looking forward to Rupert Goold giving King Lear his "The production is designed ... to evoke the dramatic scenery of the Northern landscape in the late seventies on the eve of Thatcher's premiership.

There was a two second clip of PP on Late Night Review, wobbling about on a stick like a ninety year old...ooo er, not what I expected from his Lear; I thought he would sexy and strong and outraged. Well, two seconds not definitive I suppose.

Still no news from Old Vic for priority booking - anyone know anything?

There was one famous production (maybe the Orson Welles one) where Lear comes on for the first scene doddery, senile, in a wheelchair - but then a short way into his first speech leaps out of the wheelchair strong and in command - it was only his little joke about why he was giving up power ......

I like it

I see WoS still haven’t reported the YV’s new season. Would it be different if they stage a musical or a Matthew Bourne?
