Hi, I overheard someone in a theatre yesterday that they got reduced priced seats for the show we were seeing off Facebook. I wondered how this worked, but was too shy to ask. Do you have to be a Facebook friend of the individual theatre, are there general theatre groups (like there are with areas, universities etc) that you can join, or are there Facebook pages with ticket offers on them? Can anyone shed some light on this please? Stephii

What show? I got a Facebook message from the Donmar Warehouse the other day saying "a group cancelled! Therefore we'd like to sell their tickets, so uh... anyone want a cheap ticket?". If you're on Facebook, you may as well join all the theatre groups you can find. The Barbican doesn't seem to do much more than spam me, but if the Donmar are occasionally going to sell cheap last minute tickets, then it's worth it. Who knows what all the various companies might get up to in future?

Thanks. I’ve just tried to join the theatre club but it’s not working at the mo

I belong to quite a few groups, Young Vic and the Chocolate Factory offer me free tickets or reduced price. It’s good to know FB allows me to other thing but snoop on my friends rolleyes.gif

Got the donmar one too, and signing up for groups/fans of individual shows is good, into the hoods sent out deals and curving road are offering a deal for sh*t m*x (same price as paid on tkts so no loss not knowing earlier).

Heck apparently Darius gave away free tickets to GWTW to his myspace pals laugh.gif

The Young Vic facebook group frequently msgs its members to offer discount tkts. Also fan pages for ROH and Arcola both send updates with offers to their facebook 'fans'. Well worth joining.

You have to join the groups for the individual theatres. I've had cheap (and free) ticket offers from the NT, the Donmar, Soho Theatre and the Barbican. Maybe a couple others, but I can't recall.

It's not a regular thing, and you certainly can't plan in advance. The usually send the e-mail the day of the show, or maybe the night before.
