I have just returned from what I believe to be the finest performances I shall ever see of Norman and Sir in a production of The Dresser and I went to the Palace Theatre Watford to do so. If this production is not brought into the West End it will be a criminal act. Any producer, worth his/her salt, operating today should take it up.

Clive Francis, as Sir, was a tour de force and magnificently matched by Graham Turner's beautifully judge and restrained Norman. It is so easy for Norman to be played too camp, but Turner was spot on.

Unfortunately this message will, most probably, come too late. I went to the last matineé so now only the evening performance remains of this stunning, in house, production of Ronald Harwood's tragic comedy.

Di Trevis has done a remarkable job of directing this piece. The supporting players were all well matched to their leads.

I should like to add, if this seems a little over the top, that I have no connection what so ever with this production or the Watford Palace. I have seen 135 shows this year and have just returned from a fantastic trip to Canada and the two festivals in Ontario, The Shaw and Stratford's Shakespeare, and I was bowled over by the high standard of the Canadian productions, but this weekend was the best and for only £15 each!!! For christ sake! I'd have paid £50 to see it.

Well done to The Watford Palace Theatre for putting on such a wonderful production and one worthy of the West End or Broadway.
