We're a bit shorthanded at the moment when it comes to moderating, so we're looking to add another mod to our numbers, particularly one that is online during office hours, as that is when most of us are busy with work.

If anyone thinks that they would like to perform this duty, then please PM me, Viceroy or Matthew Winn and briefly explain why you'd be right for the job. We will then begin to assess the suitability if the candidates based on past postings.

This position is obviously unpaid, and another mod will only be appointed if the existing mods (and admin) all agree on a suitable candidate. The moderators work very much as a team, helping and supporting each other, if you are online a lot and feel that you could fit in, then please get in touch!

What does a moderator do , exactly? What IT skills are required?

Generally it is just a matter of seeing that people are playing nicely on the board - editing out language that might cause offence, ensuring that posters are not being abused, or that the members are not being taken advantage of, removing potentially libellous material etc.

We don't intervene much - given the amount of traffic that this board sees - and it is pretty obvious in most cases that something needs editing or removing. When it is more borderline we take a collective view.

If you can use this board as a member, you already have adequate IT skills!

I agree Lynette would be great at this. Was most impressed by moderators on this board when I joined as they pointed out very swiftly that 3 people that attacked me were all the same troll!

Just wanted to say "thanks" to everyone who kindly offered their services, we were very pleased to see such well qualified people volunteer for this, and to let you all know that the selection is now in its final phase, awaiting official WOS approval. So expect to see one or two mods join our ranks soon!
