In "The Dresser", Sir wears a "Triple Crown" when playing Lear.

I am trying to find out if this is a single crown with three crosses, or three seperate crowns that link together, or something completely different.
I can't find anyone that knows, and when googled it comes up with sports events.

I would be very gratefuk for any help / advice.

Thanks
Ian
Not absolutely sure, but I found this reference (actually in connection with Henry VI Part II) :-

6. Triple crown: The tiara worn by the pope. It has three crowns.

It might be a place to start finding the answer!!

Also here (I know Wikipedia cannot be trusted, but the Vatigan is long rumoured to participate and manipulate the source!!):-

Act 1 Scene 3

Queen: ...
But all his mind is bent to holiness,
To number Ave-Maries on his beads;
His champions are the prophets and apostles,
His weapons holy saws of sacred writ,
Are brazen images of canonized saints.
I would the college of the Cardinals
Would choose him Pope and carry him to Rome,
And set the triple crown upon his head—
That were a state fit for his holiness.

Claims to Papal authority:

#13. "Hence the Pope is crowned with a triple crown, as king of heaven and of earth and of the lower regions."
(#13. Hinc Papa triplici corona coronatur tanquam rex coeli, terre et infernoram.")

Picture of triple crown here (together with citation for #13 above):
