Just read the thread on Glenn Carter and the comments about Stephen Ashfield. So here I am starting a thread for him. I saw Jersey Boys yesterday matinee, wonderful show. The Actor who really stood out for me WAS Stephen Ashfield, so I can see where those comments come from. What a voice!! Apparently he is Scottish, but I would never have guessed after hearing that perfect New Jersey accent. A very talented Actor too.
Has anyone seen Stephen is any other shows? He has such stage presence and seems to really enjoy the show. I have really missed out by not seeing this guy before.

He made his West End debut as Boy George in "Taboo", played John in "Tomorrow Morning" (New End Theatre), Nick Piazza in "Fame" and "Imagine This" (Plymouth Theatre Royal). He can also be seen in Tim Burton's "Sweeney Todd".

I saw Stephen 2 weeks ago and thought he was just fantastic, he is so perfect for the part. I love the show, the 4 boys are just so good.
Im actually going back next Friday and a friend of mine who works at The theatre told me that Stephen is on Hols, which means the gorgeous Kieran Jae will be playing Stephens part.
I saw Kieran man y times in Mamma Mia and thought he was just brilliant such great comic timing. I amvery excited to see what he does with Bob Gaudio.
EVeryone should go and see Jersey Boys its amazing.

Stevie needs to get some meat on his bones! He's looking like "Annie".......Annie-rexic! Maybe the 2 hours x 8 times a week of Dancing under Hot lights has made him super slender!

I saw the show yesterday afternoon, and having only seen it before with Stephen and Ryan, who are amazing. I had the pleasure of seeing Scott(Alternate) and Kieran on, as i believe that Stephen is on holiday?? At first i was a little disheartened to get an understudy on, but WOW they were just amazing, they both had the most incredible voices that made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Kieran was just so cute and boyish, totally different to Stephen and his version of 'Cry for Me' was the highlight of the show, sorry but he sings it better than Stephen. Plus there chemistry as Bob and Frankie was beautiful.
Glenn Carter and Phillip were fantastic as they had been the other 3 times i've seen it, Philip in the Mob scene just gets better and better every time i see it, he seems to get funnier.
I can't wait to see the boys on West End live. Then i am going to see it again next Sat night YEAH!!!
Does anyone know if Stephen will be back from Holiday for West End live or will it still be Kieran?
ANd does anyone know what time they are performing on the Sat?

Hi Angela

Good to see you here

I'll be going to see JB on Friday and am looking forward to seeing the other "baby face"! I've heard nothing but good reviews about Kieran. It's a shame that some people go to see this with the notion that the understudy is not "up to the job"

I saw Scott Monello as FV and his performance was Magificent and Moving. Thank you to Scott for a Great performance. As for the "Incredible Hunk" PB........well Scrummy comes to mind! LOL Ok enough salivating! Ha ha! Anytime you want to meet up in London, just let me know and we can arrange something

Hmmmm....I think I might be too tired to make it to Leicester Sq for an 11.00a.m. JB performance lasting 15 mins on Saturday! Especially after I've seen the full show the night b4 & gotten thoroughly shaken & stirred!

I suppose the actors will probably be even More tired having performed the night b4 and then having to shake their "booty" again so early the next morning + 2 shows that day!
Thanks for the links to the W.E. Live shows

I too saw Stephen in Imagine This and thought he was brilliant. Very talented Actor and what a voice! I wonder if he will be in the West End show when it opens in London? Does anyone know how long the contracts are for Jersey Boys? Whatever, as long as i can see him in the West End, i don't care what show he is in.
I went to see Jersey Boys for a second time last week and was really disappointed to find that he was on holiday. Sorry to disagree with the comments above, but Kieran is not a patch on Stephen as Bob Gaudio. His voice is nowhere near as powerful as Stephen's and I thought he was too short and chunky compared to the real Bob Gaudio. Stephen is perfect in the role and is an outstanding actor and singer.

I went to see the show last night and was treated to the Resplendant voice of Scott Monello. I was Enthralled! I was waiting for his trousers to split when he did the Splits! Hee Hee! Well done Scottie
I'll book my future attendances to coincide with when he's in the lead.
Kieran Jae as stand-in for the vacationing SA, did a good job. No doubt he does not have the physical or vocal attributes of SA but he did well and has very pleasant nuances in his voice. Kieran stands in for other actors and not just SA.
Philip The Incredible Hunk was his usual debonaire self. Wish he wouldn't keep fidgeting with his cufflinks and tie! Just take them Off Philip
Some of the people sitting in the same row as me in the stalls were so inhibited that all they did was either sit still or just clap. That was it! I looked behind me and in front of me (The Stalls) & None of them got up at the end. So I took the Lead and Leapt up to give the BOYS a Standing Ovation. Then they followed suit! Sheesh! Loosen up and shake your booty! Ha ha!

i have tickets for 3 more shows from now until Xmas..thankfully he is going to be on for all three (fingers crossed). Huge sigh of relief. I have yet to see a show where he hasnt performed. I agree it just wouldnt be the same without him, i just love his portrayal of Bob Gaudio, he is just so funny and cute. I love it when he sings 'Cry'.
Hopefully the lovely Ryan, Glenn and Philip will also be on for my 3 visits i feel the same as the previous poster ..the show without the original cast is always a little disappointing. (No offence to the alternates and understudies).

Sadly Philip does not have a website. Glenn Carter's
http://www.glenncarter.com/home.shtml & Ryan Molloy's
http://www.ryanmolloy.com/ websites are rarely updated & they never show holiday dates.
Stephen's seems to be the only website that shows the dates he is not appearing - in fact it is the only website that ever seems to get updated at all. It is more up to date than the Jersey Boys London Website!!
You can work out when Ryan is off by going to Jye Frasca's Website
http://www.jyefrascaonline.com/ & Scott Monello's website
http://www.scottmonello.com/ as they both publish the dates they will be appearing.
I know that only one of the Four Seasons can be off at any one time, but obviously that does not accoount for sickness. Ryan Molloy only ever does 6 shows a week - Scott Monello (alternate) does the other 2 shows.
Depending who you get when you call the box office - they sometimes will tell you who is off on a particular week if you ask.
Its a bit of a nightmare really as I personally like to see all 4 guys as they have such chemistry - the show is just not the same when an alternate or cover is on. Just my opinion.
Stephen is my favourite - I saw the show once when he was apparently off sick - its just didn't seem right without him. I was gutted! Only Stephen can play Bob Gaudio to perfection in my book. Just my opinion again, before anyone moans at me!!!
