I came across this when I typed "Has Russell Watson ever performed in an opera?" into Google. It's amusing, in my opinion.

I hope there aren't any real fans on this site - Mrs Senza talento does a fine line in disingenuous outrage - that site's really cheered me up! How long until Ms Jenkins' lawyers find out?

It's done so well that any court case would be equally joyous!

The site may be hilarious, but have you seen some of the responses to the articles? This site is potentially lethal for pompous opera snobs!

Thought I'd bump this thread, given La Jenkins's new prominence on ITV.

You don't have to be a pompous opera snob to recognise that La Jenkins is an insult to decent classical singers everywhere! sad.gif

PS I confess that I was fooled the first time I went on the site as it is almost indistinguishable from Jenkins' own publicity!!

Oh don't be such a pompous opera snob. Live and let live, eh? She's not provoking a nuclear holocaust and she gives my mother a great deal of pleasure.

She is over rated and over exposed!

I thought she was going to America - the sooner the better, in my opinion!

La Jenkins is doing a UK tour in February but none of the venues are sold out! Perhaps I am not the only one sick of the sight of her!

I enjoyed this though:

" A more instructive proposition for the opera-curious might be "From Crossover to Credibility", in which Katherine Jenkins auditions for English Touring Opera, learns one role while covering another, and works for Equity minimum on an eight-week national tour. Don't hold your breath."

Anna Picard in today's Indie on Sunday. Love it.

Oh, well that's all right then! I should just ignore the fact that she's constantly referred to as an opera singer when she is no such thing? And the fact that she is an insult to proper operas singers with her feeble voice, her tiny range and her complete lack of taste or style?
No, I don't think I will, actually! And if that makes me a pompous opera snob so be it!

Stop beating about the bush, Seb, and tell us what you really think. wink.gif

Having now watched a few minutes of said ghastly programme from between my fingers, I'm not sure I've got the stomach for this argument. But my mum still enjoys Katherine Jenkins, and at 87 I don't begrudge her that pleasure, nor will I bash the singer herself for taking the opportunities that came her way (although Anna Picard's article still tickles me). Save your venom for her cynical promoters. (And James Blunt, of course, but that's a given.)

She can sing alright but in no way is she an OPERA singer

She can sing about 5 notes alright! The rest of her "range" is just painful. The sad thing is that she is either so deluded or stupid that she seems to believe her own publicity! Anyone honest would have demurred when Alan Titsarse piped up "Carmen belongs to Katherine Jenkins"! Only if she buys it you moron!

I agree. I've been to a couple of her concerts, which were good nights out but by no means fantastic.

Aparently she's releaseing Love Never Dies around the same time that Sierra does?

I admit to watching that "opera" programme and much prefer Bernie Nolan's voice to KJ's warbling.

However, the masses seem to like her, although to me her voice is mediocre.

I think she is over rated over hyped and over here! Please, when, oh when, is this woman going to America and out of our faces?
