Full Version: Tristan Und Isolde (roh)
Does anyone know when Tristan und Isolde is due to be performed at the Royal Opera House? I read somewhere that it was going to be part of their 2008 programme.

It's not part of the current season. Maybe in the autumn. If it does get performed let's hope it isn't the truly ghastly production which Haitink conducted a few years back - One of the all time worst productions of my experience (and that's saying something!). The glyndebourne production is one of the best of my experience but probably a bit small scale for the ROH. Incidentally, just to make you all jealous, I have finally, after 10 years of trying, got tickets to Bayreuth for this year (Parsifal and Tristan). I expect the productions will be weird but the expereience and the sound quality of the Festpielhaus as something else.

Congratulations on getting confirmation of your Bayreuth application. You have received early notification. I made my regular application in September, but as yet, have not received word. Maybe the usual letter saying 'unsuccessful - oversubscribed' will arrive at the end of the month. I was successful 4 years ago so will most likely have to wait another 6 years!!!!
It is not part of the ROH 2008/9 season.
