I don't understand how so many people can read a message and not respond to it. I have posted messages here and on another site looking for fans of Glenn Carter aka Jesus in JCS 2000 New York and PBS and while hundreds have read the posts not one has responded except those who did not like his performance and want to crucify him for it. I can't believe out of hundreds of people there is not one person or one person who knows a person who is a Glenn Carter fan. I did not post for the fun of it. I have a reason for trying to find his fans and it is extremely important I find them as soon as possible if not sooner. Can someone help me Please? Someone must know him out there and like him. Come on people. Where are you?
armadillo
Why is it so important you contact other fans? Perhaps if you explain that, people will come forward.

Perhaps he doesn't have many fans. Perhaps most of the fans he has are not regular users, or even aware, of this discussion board. Perhaps no one yet knows or cares about the "extremely important" nature of your mission because you haven't explained what it is.

Do remember that most of the regular readers and posters hear are based in the UK.

Come on tinkerbell30 are you really Mr Carter, looking for an ego boost wink.gif

I've never heard of you...........sorry , him.
Trev
Perhaps a reasonably sensible place to start would be his official fan club (or is that too obvious?)
tinkerbell30
To those who have answered my post. No I am most certainly not Mr Carter looking for an ego boost and it was insensitive of you to say so. I have gone to his fan club and as the woman in charge is not good about keeping things up to date and his American fans are few or are there but have not paid the expensive dues to be part of the club they cannot reach me. I am fully aware of the fact that most of the members here are from the U.K. where I have recently visited and know for a fact that there are people in other countries with penpals in the U.S. so thought it might be worth trying though apparently I may have been wrong. I would love to explain why it is so important I reach his fans but the first time I tried that I was shut out for soliciting so I am not sure how to explain it so that my message will get though but if nobody is going to care as one of you stated why should I even bother. Obviously he has no fans here either even though he is from your country and has worked extensivley there for 20 something years. Let me just say it has something to do with a fan based concert for Glenn when he comes to the U.S. Is that good enough for now? I appologize for sounding defensive but I have not had any responses except those of the negative and often rude response and I am very frustrated at this point. If anyone knows anywhere I can find American fans or British fans who know American fans let me know. Thanks

Perhaps he doesn't have many fans. Perhaps most of the fans he has are not regular users, or even aware, of this discussion board.

Also, the original request was posted only four days ago. People who drop by this forum only once or twice a week are unlikely to have seen the request.

In addition, there are only 1512 registered users here, 445 of whom have never posted (why not?) and a number of which are spammer accounts. We account for perhaps 1 out of every 80 thousand people in the UK. As a statistical sample we are rather biased towards theatregoing, but even so the chances of finding a fan of any particular person is fairly low.

I've seen rather more than 4500 individual performers on stage. If every single person who has ever registered on this forum, spammers and non-posters included, was a fan of a different one of those performers that would still leave two thirds of them with no fans here at all, and that's just out of the people I've personally watched. (I know it's possible to be a fan of more than one person, but even so the numbers are strongly against finding any particular actor's fans in a general purpose forum.)
David
How many people know who he is, let alone would call themselves 'fans'? This post is the first I've heard of him. (And so far, it's not a great impression).
glossie
Well, I'll own up to rather liking Glenn Carter - not sure I'd go so far as to call myself a 'fan' though, having only seen the JCS DVD and the man himself in Derby last month, so I didn't feel qualified to respond.

If you have info on something you think I may be interested in, I'd be happy to hear about it on this forum, but if it involves travelling to the US, sorry - no can do.

You asked a question "Any fans of Glenn Carter here?"- you got little response (so far); I guess that tells you what you need to know. huh.gif
armadillo
I do think you'd get a better response if you asked a specific question. Your original post just asked if there were any fans around (you didn't mention you were hoping for fans in the US)- maybe you should say what it is you want and see what happens. I would call myself a fan of certain actors but wouldn't respond to someone just asking if there were any fans of Person X out there (I have no desire to be in a fan club or participate on messageboards about individuals). But I might well reply to a specific enquiry or request. Just try it - you never know what response you might get.

I don’t see how it was insensitive, it was a joke. Before today I doubt many on this board had heard of you, him.

But with your cryptic messages, I can safely say that we are all now aware of Mr Carter’s existence, so well done.

I bet the man’s never had so many hits on his web site. Nice hair by the way. wink.gif

Ok I am guilty of one thing and that is impatience. To the person who said I only posted 4 days ago you are correct and usually I am not that impatient but I happen to be in a rush with this one so when I saw that 99 people had read it and not responded I got a little frustrated. I will run the risk of being shut out again for soliciting even though I am not and say the reason for all the hoopla is because rumor from a very good sorce that Glenn Carter is at least considering coming to the U.S. for something and while here his fans few of us now as there are are trying to find more fans to join with us in getting him to do a concert while he is here for his show whatever it might be. We have had contact with his agent and have something in the works and are awaiting a response as i speak. If you are not a Glenn fan or even if you are and either cannot come or won't that is too bad. You will be missing out on something really fun that will not only benefit the fans but Glenn as well. He is unknown for the most part here and the people in his own country seem to have forgotten about him as well but we want to remind people what a wonderful performer he is even now and what they are missing by not being his fan. We are trying to bring back his old fans and make him some new ones. Is there anything wrong with that? If you were a celebrity wouldn't you appreciate having fans who would go out of thier way to do something like this for you?

I think the reason that people have 'shut you out', as you say, is that you've suddenly appeared, obviously with a very specific agenda, that clearly very few people on here have any interest in- this is because a. this is a predominantly UK board, and you are looking for an audience for unconfirmed shows in the US, and b. very few people have heard of Glenn Carter. The fact that 99 people read your original post, shows that the people on here will give you some time, and read your posts (even about an unknown performer). What you need to accept that you are in the wrong place- those 99 people read your post and thought 'this isn't for me'. By all means stay and discuss theatre, this is a generally very open, friendly online community that you will be welcomed into, but I'm afraid that (you have proved), people don't want to go to a Glenn Carter concert in Kentucky. Sorry.
armadillo
To be fair, I don't think it has been proved that people don't want to see a Glenn Carter concert in the US, only that a British (mostly London-based) theatre community aren't all going to buy a plane ticket. Have you tried US theatre messageboards?

Hi Armadillo. Thanks for the support. I appreciate it even if you are not necesarily a Glenn fan. I actually started out on BroadwayWorld.com posting messages on the boards to U.S. fans there. I started with the Broadway Board since he has performed in New York where the people who responded were some of the rudest most obnoxious people I have ever seen. I had forgotten how nasty people could be till I went there for help. And we wonder what is wrong with the world today. It's not the word but the people in it who are juevenile and uncouth. The only reason I came to the British Boards is because he is from England they thought I might have a better chance on the U.K. boards. If they only knew how wrong they were. People in his own country don't even know who he is. I have tried the boards also in Boston, Washington DC and Florida and while many are reading it nobody is responding. He is due to be in another show somewhere in the fall but word on what it is is not released yet. In the meantime this other fan and I are trying to find fans anywhere we can in supporting us to get him to do a concert when he comes back to the U.S which he has been considering doing for a while. The other fan lives in Kentucky. I live in RI and would rather he come to Providence,Boston or New York but this is her idea. She knows what she wants to do and I am trying to support her as a friend would do as best I can. Why people have to be so negative is beyond me. If you know any message boards that would be good to post on in the U. S. do let me know. Thanks
