I don't often get the chance to say this but: I agree with you 100%, Guest. Beautifully and cogently written!
Thanks Orchestrator, thought I was losing it for a while there! Nice to know someone shares my views. I'm only expressing my honest opinion as a heartfelt theatre-lover.

Just read through your post and add the missing letters and spaces before clicking on Add Reply. I don't find it offensive but it would be polite to take some care. How much do you wish to be understood?

She's doing a concert on Nov 7 in Truro Cathedral, directed by Sir Tim Rice. Also featuring John Barrowman, Rick Wakeman and the Truro Cathedral singers.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/artic...rd-surgery.htmlIs this a desperate vocal problem or spin on ANOTHER 'personal issue' to get her out of yet another 'dissapointing' ticket sales, for her now
cancelled tour? The second cancelled tour I have booked to see her on . . .
The Daily Mail often have it in for her . . . but I'm loosing patience after the second cancelled tour date, and feel perhaps the thinly vailed suggestions of a cop out to save face are true . . . however much she might 'need' this operation, with the timing, this sounds like 'spin' to me . . . . if not, get well soon . . .

Yep, have to agree, it sounds like spin, (or nasty reporting lol) - "The condition leaves part of the mouth joined together. Despite having it since birth,
her career has not been affected until now".

The one thing I would say is that if you look back through her career as Maria and beyond, she has had many issues with her voice and throat, perhaps a result of this condition. I've been in Connie's position (with a different illness) and know how hard it must be for her to hear that she may never sing again. My heart and prayers go out to her and I hope she recovers and comes back better that ever!

Well hopefully, what the papers are saying is through, it is a bit suspicious that she has cancelled before her tour and the ticket sales are very poor.

No there is nothing suspicious here , if she carried on with the tour it really would of been the end of her singing career . So its nothing to do with poor ticket sales . We all hope she pulls through this and wish her a speedy recovery .

The Mail has always had a grouch about Connie. She obviously is quite ill, and the mention of poor ticket sales in connection with this cancellation, is imo, bad taste. Sales might have been slow, but her illness takes precedence over that and, although I have never been a fan, I wish Connie a full and rapid recovery. I also feel for Will Martin, the young NZ singer, who was to have been support for the tour - it leaves him high and dry unfortunately. (Personally I would rather have heard him than Connie, but that's just me)

I agree theatrefan. It was incredibly bad taste to mention it! Considering I haven't seen any promotion for the tour the ticket sales are fine! A shame for Will Martin too.

In adition top that- I haven't seen ANY publicity and had no idea she was touring till I heard about her being ill!

Yes, very cynical of the Daily Mail to also remind us that the tickets sales were poor is some venues which contrary to some of the above posts suggest that lack of publicity may also be to blame - sorry but Connie has more than done the publicity rounds in promoting both her second album and the tour of the same name. I would not wish her ill health but part of me feels that the Maria tag is the only tag the public are willing to buy into.

That's not just cynical and in poor taste for the Daily Mail, it's simply irresponsible journalism. It sounds like the kind of tiresome, kneejerk bitchiness you see all over the internet, wherever idiots and trolls are given free rein. Pathetic.
Not a Connie fan particularly, but I do wish her the best of luck with this operation. It must be a terribly frightening situation for her.

As far as I'm aware, her album tour is the one that has been cancelled. Whether she has to pull out of the Sound of Music tour remains to be seen. I guess it depends how well the surgery goes.

In a way I hope it does mean she has to pull out of teh SOM tour. I think it's high time that she really starts to move aaway from the SOM and start to cave out a proper career for herself... I mean the London run gave her nme a boost, maybe it's time she used it!

I work at one of the venues that SOM is coming too and this is what we've been told to tell customers!
"The producers of The Sound of Music understand Connie has had some treatment for a vocal chord issue she has had since birth and we wish her all the very best and look forward to her opening in The Sound of Music in Cardiff as planned"
Apparently some newspaper has reported that she has pulled out but obviously the producers are saying different!

I am Connie Fisher fan having travelled from Europe on many occasions to see her in SOM London . I have two set of tickets for Cardiff, and I really hope she makes it. I am dissapointed her career since leaving SOM has not taken off more, but I dont agree that she should not continue in SOM. She contributed a huge amount to the success of the musical and is fantastic in the part, and one should not deprive her or her fans of that.
Summer Strallen never really lived up to the part in many peoples views, and I just hope the producers have the sence to look in Aofie Mulhollands direction if the unfortune occurs of Connie not being recovered in time for the start of the tour.

She was singing on a television show in Wales early this month with John Owen Jones (Shan Cothi?), are my time scales right or was it wrong of me to presume that she would therefore be doing the SoM tour, thinking about it maybe it was a pre recorded segment.

It's a pre record Connie recorded the Shan Cothi show 17th February. She has not done any performing/filming since she has had the surgery.

Yeah. Pretty dire. Interesting to see she didn't hit that high note at the end of "good-bye" but went an octave (or so!) lower. Was this recorded pre-surgery?
Gabz31

I admit it was pretty dire but Connie just went along with the script . And was happy to do the show .
Again this is a pre- record it was filmed last November when Connie started to suffer with her vocals .
But she is on the mend And she will bounce back!
